Cooke for Devine is a must.

Right, I'm off, can't be bothered with the overreaction at losing to a team that have been very useful at home and we have no right whatsoever to beat.

Just stick with the formation and allow the players to be become accustomed to and grow into their roles.
Play at a high tempo, get at them and let them worry about our quality rather than camping in and giving them licence to get at us.bantamdave41, Inspector, borderlescott and 8 others like this. -
I'm not too sure some need to wake up, maybe some need a reality check the are 37 games left and 111 points to play for. -

On the other hand Cheltenham fielded a team that mostly all played together last season bar a couple of new players in their starting 11.
The difference in knowing each other, knowing the formation and how each other plays was clear.
Sooner we move away from these mass clear outs and mass incomings every window the better.Inspector, Allotment Bantam, River_City_Bantam and 6 others like this. -
Cheltenham passed the ball and moved it quickly. Their play was refreshing to watch. We lumped it forwards in the main and weren’t as comfortable on the ball. Cheltenham were better than us and worth the win. We did create more in the second half but the worry is how little control we had in the middle of the pitch again. The game passed palmer and Anderson by. Cheltenham played 3/5/2 by the look of it and were comfortable in possession even in tight spaces. We weren’t. We went longer earlier which suggests we don’t have the ball players to play through the middle.
Cheltenham are the best side I’ve seen this season. Most sides have been so poor. The only surprise was it was as close as 3-2.RCarol, city exile, 1975citygent and 5 others like this. -

Disappointed with tonight but to say we lost 3-2 to an obviously good home side isn't too worrying considering we have a lot to improve on, hopefully Anderson's appearance was only because Cooke isn't fit enough to start. We looked dangerous with Cooke on, he can distribute well to our wingers which Palmer only does when Cooke is on the pitch, and which Anderson can't do...

I'm not on board with the 'sack him' talk. Its far too early and we need some stability as a club. All manager's make mistakes and we need to give him some time to ride out the mistakes he's making. He's doing some good things too.
The squad isn't promotion material in my mind and it was always going to be very tough to transform last season's shower into promotion material within 1 window.
At the risk of getting ahead of ourselves, next summer will be a much better base. The defence will be settled and will all be under contract I believe. Vaughan will be under contract, as will Ismail. Akpan will have moved on and we'll be able to do the same with other fringe players. It'll be a case of focusing on 5-6 players rather than 15. A much more manageable job. As long as the financial backing is there, Bowyer gets this season and then we can be much more critical of him next season as he'll genuinely have had time and a fair crack at it.Stop hovering to collapse... What amazes me from the "professional footballers" of ours, The ball drops out of the air and they have acres of space and they just volley the ball first time up the pitch time after time. I was taught to play football a different way and was encouraged to get the ball down at every opportunity. Just swinging boots at it none of the defenders or midfielders want the responsibility of having the ball. I'd have been dragged off for some of hit and hopes I was seeing last night. Knock it in to the corners and run after it. Not even Sunday league. I don't expect tika taka but a bit of composure and possession wouldn't go a miss. The possession stats have been poor all season needs to vastly improve if we are going for promotion. Think if you are going to play dinosaur/dark age football you have to get the results. Bowyer isn't and fans will turn with no entertainment and no results.

It’s a little funny that so many people on here were demanding that we play 442 and slagging GB off for trying 433/352 and now countless of the same people are moaning that we get overrun in midfield.
You can’t play 442 against an opposition who play 3 men in the middle of the park and expect to control the game. 442 is all about going long and bypassing the CM or about getting it wide and crossing into the box. So people need to decide which then want, more control in midfield or 442.Inspector, How, Idlebantam and 3 others like this. -
Suspect it will be unchanged starting eleven, Away from home think he prefers Devine as a defensive midfielder until the opposition tire then he brings Cook on to try steal the game

Fortune favours the brave! Yes,I'm a bit apprehensive
about this game but if we want success we have to
work hard and believe we can get another 3 points!
Being cautious is one thing but talking ourselves down
is encouraging Cheltenham instead of letting them harbour
doubts. We can win this,it will be close no doubt but let's be
positive!trevor, How, The Evidence and 2 others like this.
