Excuses for what? If we had Collins and Drury as rookie managers, I really would be seriously worried, yes sometimes they come off, but equally it could all go pear shaped. However, add Greg into the equation and the risk lessons not completely, mainly because I am still worried about how it all fits together, and what happens when the team don’t get results.

Would I prefer a more experienced manager who is young enough to take on new ideas and work with Edin yes I would. However, this is what we have, and within the next few weeks we will see how it pans out.

 

It may seem like an obvious point (to anyone else) but every manager ever started out with no experience, and all were given a chance at some point. Eddie Howe seems to be making a good fist of it.

I'm not saying he is a good coach, I'm saying there's no evidence to say he isn't.

 

I'll take that and raise you Paul Jewell. 34, zero experience, poor youth team record and a terrible first six months in the job at the end of 97/98.

He was hardly a suscess at Burnley ?, but sometimes you get a manager/ coach who is a very good fit at one club but not a sucsess at another.
