Don’t think there has been a lack of effort or any evidence that the players weren’t playing for him. It’s his stubborn tactics and dogmatic style of play and today his unbelievably substitutions that have been completely unsuited to the league we play in

 

Hughes was here for half of last season and he has had far better backing than any previous manager of late. The rightful expectations for this season was promotion nothing else.I definitely want to see Hughes stay but I hope he is humble enough to see his style of play needs to adapt to the division we are in

 

I think it's £2m, to a Company who can call the debt in at any time.

 

How are they completely unsuited to the division?

Leyton Orient just won the division, they play the same tactics but they have younger, better midfielders.

They paid money for Hull midfielder George Moncur, we signed Richie Smallwood on a free.

There's been a massive difference, with Moncur getting 9 league goals and driving the club forward with pace and energy.

Smallwood has looked like an old man by comparison, and Clayton looks even older.

 

I'm hoping I addressed this in the post above.

Smallwood has been a major let down, and Clayton plays like a 40 year old. Gilliead is likeable, but kind of hopeless.

We need better, younger, fitter, more athletic midfielders.

They are available, but usually for a fee.

Impatient?? Jon our fans were superb today and deserve so much more than the negative shite Hughes has served up for much of the season. The guy has been a massive disappointment, with the support he has been given we really should have achieved more. I hope he stays as can't believe he won't have learnt many lessons at this level, not least that a 3 man midfield that always goes backwards is not the way forwards!

Stockport we’re in the national league
Carlisle finished 20th
Leyton Orient finished 13th
Stevenage finished 21st

While yes this season was an improvement on others, this idea that its progress is rubbish.
It doesn’t take 2-3 years to build up to promotion. This season has been largely crap. We haven’t played well or consistently at any point. Even our unbeaten runs were unconvincing and when it actually mattered the manager and players proved that they didn’t have the bollocks for it. They crumbled.
Stick your “progress” with every other football cliche going. We are crap and MH is to blame for his turgid football and inability to change a game.

 

Looking back Wright going to Plymouth and Chapman's injury at Swindon, were turning points.

You're also forgetting the basic that keeps getting pointed out over and over and over and over: those clubs haven't totally reset every time they've sacked a manager like we have. We've been bumbling around in the dark under Sparks since he took over, and it won't get any better if Hughes leaves.

We will not replace with a suitable candidate, you can bet on that.

Hughes could have gone for that type of player if he had chosen to Smallwood Clayton and other won’t have come cheap. He went for quantity and didn’t match his signings to the way he wanted to play it’s down to him.

Gent's job has been to find quality, and he's found 1 or 2, but hopefully he's on it this evening looking for better.

 

Remind me when Evans, Wellens and Simpson took over at Stevenage, Orient and Carlisle?
While yes our league position is an “improvement” we still have the same overall result don’t we? Yet another season in league 2.

So basically a whole new team. Given that there's every chance that a few of our better players will move on we aren't far off being right back to square one. Take away Cook and we haven't got any goal scorers. Derbyshire is OK but we'll barely get 45 mins out of him. Good to have on the bench for the last 20 mins or so when chasing the game. Apart from that no one else scores.

City employ Doyle as goalkeeper coach on a number of occasions this season including penalties Lewis has made saves and pushed the ball in the path of the opposition players. He needs to be coached out of that fault

 

So while we keep “progressing” you’ll just ignore the fact that it is actually possible to just get promoted without the need to wait 3 years while we try and get recruitment right. Bore off.
We scoff at Evans and Sparks turned down Wellens in the summer. The club is a shambles and I’m sick to death of people trying to justify it.

 

How am I saying any of that?

When did I say a club can't get promoted at the first time of asking?

Bottom line is, we've gone from clubber long ball in Adams, to playing football at the back.

It's not a seamless, easy transition.

Did Leyton Orient or Stevenage drastically change the style of football with their new coaches, or is it just us that do that every time we need a new manager because we're a headless chicken of a club?

I'm not defending anything.

I'm calling for another season for Hughes.

Changing the Manager every 12 months hasn't worked.
