    The problem is if not Stuart then who? Who is available with the knowledge and experience needed? If you sack a manager who is currently so close to play off places you must have someone in place to come in. We don’t need another mediocrity. Pity we didn’t recognise Wilder’s quality when he was at Halifax.

    I feel for the great turnout of city fans that went today. It sounded very frustrating once again. How we're still 5th and still in touching distance of 3rd place I don't know but we won't be for much longer if things don't significantly improve soon.

    My choice would be nathan jones. He played easily the best football I've seen at league 1/2 level. I'd imagine he's too good for us but that would be my choice.

    I must say the downturn has coincided with Donaldson’s injury. We didn’t even have Vaughan today. But that’s why you need three senior strikers. We brought in Oteh on deadline day snd ig now looks like desperation.

    This is your post word for word, “Speaking of McCall I can never forget his debut. He was small and frail looking and playing right back. Never in a million years could you have seen an illustrious career coming up, cup final goals, managing Scotland and captaining City in the Premier Division. What an incredible story if he could ever come back and bring success. He’s still young enough”’. Not once did you refer to him as a manager!

    Perhaps you could now balance your position by looking at his credentials as a manager.

    We have tried twice with Stuart and it has not worked out.

    Bring him back as a Football Ambassador but not in a managerial role.

    If you are younger than 25, then all the wonderful things you relate to is purely history, what you can actually remember is two failed managerial spells.

    Let Stuart’s legacy as a great player remain, rather than sullying it with ultimately unsuccessful stints as a manager.

    Time to move on.

    I think he does go into games wanting to win and get 3 points. To suggest otherwise is ludicrous.
    The way he sets up the team and instructs the players to play to get the 3 points is the stand out issue because it's a boring, percentages type of football he thinks can get us promoted.

    If I was younger than twenty-five I wouldn’t have seen his debut. Because I mentioned his playing career doesn’t mean I was talking about a playing comeback. I find your post simply bizarre. I was expressing an opinion that it would be wonderful if he could come back a third time as manager. I think he was treated shoddily last time. I saw my first match in the Third Division North, so you cannot call me a young naive McCall worshipper.

    You miss the point, the only plaudits you can give to him, are based on his playing career at City rather than his spells as a manager.

    He has had two spells as a manager at City. At the conclusion of his first spell (sadly) he had a win rate % of 34.6!

    In his second spell, he was ultimately sacked after a run of six straight defeats.

    I agree with you that he probably had a very difficult period, when Rahic was micromanaging things, in what seems to have been a despotic style.

    However he subsequently went to and was sacked by Scunthorpe, as their manager

    His spell as manager at Rangers, did not lead to him getting the permanent post.

    Why would it be ‘wonderful’ if he returned? Undoubtedly he was a great player for the club, but that is now over 18 years ago.

    Another failed managerial stint at Bradford City, would just tarnish his reputation as a great player.

    I never went to a Third Division North fixture, before my time. I am sure they may have been great for those at the time, but ‘history’ is just that, it is in the past.

    Stuart will always hold a special place for many City fans as a player, myself included, but if he wants to be associated with the club, then it really should be in another role than manager.

    Lets move on, into the third decade of the 21st Century.

    As has been said before, Stuart is a fantastic manager when things are going well but appears clueless when things take a down turn.

    Good to meet up with another fellow poster yesterday Steve!! Good day but shame about the game, that 90 minutes spoiled the day!! We've taken nearly 4000 fans to last 3 away games, seen 3 boring draws and only 2 goals!!

    Likewise mate, always good to put names to faces! Yep it’s certainly very dull at the moment, doesn’t help when we spend so much following them either. The odd goal celebration here and there would certainly be welcome, it’s becoming a rarity!

    OMG ....... The threads on here feel like I'm the bloke who turned up stone cold sober at 9.00 PM for a New Years eve party, filled with drunks who had yet to recover from Christmas eve.
    The pissed up guys are wondering WHY their 'chat up lines' are no longer attracting the sober chicks ?
    Talk about a duff Yankee teen gross out movie !!

    OK - So Bowyers tactics are more than questionable ...... but his hands appeared tied each and every game. TRUE, he needs to change his mindset, but not if it means we lose a winnable game. Think about all this, fellas. :)

    Yes they are. At least it was just me and not my 2 lads as well or would have been even more expensive!! Certainly not cheap. Andy does a good deal on coaches. Bumped into some lads I know in Spoon's afterwards and they paid £23 with Ambassador as they aren't members!! Oh well, Mansfield here we come...
