This is a magnificent signing for us, he is much better than League One level when he’s fit.

Was at Huddersfield 4 years ago and was easily our best player then.

Played with Scannell here and linked with him brilliantly. Both played their best football in their careers that year.

Think we sold him for about £8 mill and he's never really looked as good but he's stepping down a level now and could prove a good move for both player and club to reignite his career and your campaign in survival.

Unbelievable signing. Two-footed, likes a shot, can create, has experience, in his prime, a top-end Championship player on loan, to his hometown club. I say complete hats off to the club for making it possible and to the player for fancying it.

 

Top-end Championship player? He hasn’t played all season, so how can he be described as a top-end player?

The big thing to remember is they are teams aiming to be top of the table in the championship. We are a team looking to not be relegated in the league below. Not being rated by one set of fans doesn't mean won't perform at a level below. I also get the impression that comments made in the press around a move gave Derby fans a chip on the shoulder. We don't have any of those types of fans at our club. If anyone read comments from Bradford fans about Wyke and Wells then they would come across as rubbish footballers

 

His career suggests he's a top-end Championship player.

Before he signed, there were people on here suggesting we only signed dumplings. So forgive me for seeing him as a much better breed of arrival and hyping him up. I forgot, you've to be a miserable sod to support City and post on here. I ought to deactivate.

 

I was delighted to hear we’d pulled this signing out of nowhere. He’s 28, so still the right side of 30. If talk of his wages are true then we’ve got a 25-30k pw player for a minor contribution purely because he’s a Bradford lad and wanted to play here!

True, he hasn’t figured for Frank Lampard but he has a Championship pedigree. Look forward to seeing how he gets on.

Butterfield will be an immense signing IF he has the poise and ability to dictate the play on the deck.

People think Hopkin has asked the lads to play hoof - absolute nonsense. You can't play passing football if you're second best or struggling for time and space. Basic fact.

Perhaps Butterfield can be the man to come and take the ball from our defenders so they don't get themselves under pressure and have to hoof. I've thought for a while that often they are left with no other option because the midfield or forwards aren't showing for them
