It’s just not going to happen, I don’t think. Through whatever mechanism they end up doing it (either Johnson asking himself, or whatever), the extension will be asked for.

There could be a deal put to parliament, I suppose, but there’s no plausible path to the extension not being asked for through law since the deal would only be ratified following the extension being requested. Anything outside of that is fantasy politics and it just won’t happen.
