No you are wrong, I am capable of fairly deciphering between fact and party policy fiction most of the time, You seem unable to break from your party loyalty and of course it is a left wing trait to lie to the people for the common good of them and the party

But we've already seen them lie on numerous occasions. Johnson is notorious for it, even within his own party. 'No customs border in the Irish Sea' being just one of the many recent falsehoods.

yes and where it becomes obvious I will call them out, But in our Media controlled world where they attempt and sometimes succeed in making decisions you cannot believe what you read or hear, Unless you see it out of a politicians mouth direct I suggest you treat reports as dubious and misleading usually with an ulterior motive,
Remember reporters have huge egos and seek attention and know that reporters who cannot keep themselves in the news do not last long

I'm well aware of media bias on both sides, thank you. I'm 63 years old so I've seen enough of it.
I'm not a blind loyalist. I initially voted for Corbyn as leader but quickly realised that was a mistake and abstained in the second leadership ballot. I've said several times in these pages that there are many Tory politicians, much as I oppose their political views, whom I would trust to lead the country well through this time of crisis - Thatcher, Heath, Heseltine, Ken Clarke to name a few.

I happen to believe that this government is the most unbalanced and incompetent of my lifetime. This is based on what I see and have heard from their own lips as well as information gleaned from media. It is abundantly clear that Johnson has packed his cabinet with second or third rate ministers like Raab, Patel, Hancock and Truss because of their blind loyalty to a no deal Brexit and their willingness to subscribe to the gospel according to Dominic Cummings. He has purged ministers of substance and experience because they think for themselves and don't always toe the line. Their gross incompetence in handling the pandemic and their stubborn refusal to extend the Brexit transition period until the virus crisis is over are, to me, the mark of a government that is prioritising their own ideological obsessions over the obvious needs of the country.

Not quite true is it Michael Gove is a very competent politician and Rishi Sunak is doing a great job as chancellor just imagine if Labour had won the election Dianne Abbott would be in Goverment

Well if you can judge as you say an unbalanced government that has been in power for 5 months with the biggest world problem in our lifetime taking almost all of the governments time trying to do what right for the British people your a very clever man Steve.
As with new players there are fan's who judge them on one game and have a different opinion come the end of the season, that's when I will judge them as the term in office comes to an end.

I agree that Sunak seems to be the best of the bunch. Gove is competent but malign. Most of the rest are no marks.

I think your post is spot on. This goverment with a large majority has four and a half years to run and that’s when it will be judged Keir Stammer looks like a good choice for labour and will be a formidable opponent and a much more appealing choice than Corbyn.

Except Dave, the biggest world problem in our lifetime didn't take most of their time when it should have done, in February when the planning needed doing. They downplayed and ignored it and failed to use the experiences of other countries. Instead, Johnson went on ten days family leave to sort out his divorce and Cummings p!ssed about pursuing his ideological vendettas with the civil service, the judiciary and the BBC. As a direct result of that incompetence and laziness, thousands have died unnecessarily and we face a much longer economic disaster than other countries which acted swiftly and correctly.
It beggars believe how much slack some Tory voters are prepared to give this government. If any Labour government, much less one led by Corbyn, had got so many things wrong in such a short time they'd be getting crucified daily in the media.

The scientists got it wrong. They were the ones that advised mass testing should be stopped . They were the ones who advised when lockdown should start. Of course this goverment have made mistakes the biggest being unprepared for it for example right at the start of the epidemic Germany had capacity for a million test we had no capacity. There was very little stockpile of PPE. There will be an enquiry at the end and lessons learned and comparisons made

Except Corbyn will never get the chance to make similar mistakes because his election campaign was absolutely littered with them.

You can't complain that he'd get a rougher ride for making the same decisions as the current government when he simply wasn't good enough to get there in the first place.

You know my politics overall, I voted Tory for the one reason they were the only party to accept the referendum vote and act on it, once in power I have to say I liked the proposals they put forward especially more involvement and financial help for the North of England.
I accept talks cheap and it's the doing rather than the saying what they will do that counts.
With regards Covid-19 the death toll is without doubt horrific and the lack of PPE was a disgrace, even though there was a warning and a dummy run in 2016 the government didnt heed the advice they were given.
I've questioned our present situation with the past Labour government sending 1000s of our troops to war also on information from the experts at the time with regards WOD, but worst still sending lads out to do a job without the necessary equipment to give them the best chance of doing their job correctly it suggests to me that is equally as incompetent.

Was interesting to hear Cummings in his interview say that he had been warning the government for some time we were unprepared for a pandemic and needed to prepare properly, Maybe he should be in charge :)

    Yes I can.
I know he wasn't good enough. I've said so many times. I'm very glad that he's gone. But the possibility that his decision making might (or might not) have been worse than this government's is a red herring. It's hypothetical and unknowable. What we do know, however, is that nearly every aspect of planning for and managing this pandemic has been either shirked or bungled by this government. And thousands have died unnecessarily as a result.

As I said in my post, any Labour government that had made as many bad decisions as this one has would be getting pilloried in the press daily, not just one led by Corbyn.

With Corbyn there would be no breaking the rules, Not with Hamas, Hezbollah and the IRA brought in to police the state and the PLO to govern the country :(

Well, I don't don't that he's more competent than Johnson and many of the cabinet. It's not his competence that's at issue; it's his integrity and his extreme ideological biases.

Well his vision gave the Tories an 80 seat majority and the reason the left are so keen to get rid. Nothing to do with the moral high ground

Wow. Got any more absurd clichés you want to throw around?
Get over him. He was a terrible LP leader but now he's gone, thank goodness.
None of us can know how well or badly Corbyn and McDonnell would have handled this crisis. One thing is for sure though - they wouldn't have buggered off to the country for ten days in February.
