Absolutely, the dirty yards... Remember him getting an absolute bollocking at Salford, as he trotted back when Salford had a corner..

DP is a player whom has potential but aptitude at this level is so important... I can honestly see him doing a Billy Knott, slipping away into obscurity into the non league...

Aptitude, end product, energy, team player.. All questions for me

In the case of ball to hand then these are guidelines to follow. Halliday leaned into the ball to block the cross with his arm. The whole team knew it was a pen. You won't find a single neutral who says that wasn't a handball.

Probably right. Although in real time he seems to lean in which didn't help. Does anyone actually know the handball rule anymore??!

Look at the workrate of Wright, he's constantly dropping back although Periara has nowhere near the pace of Wright so always looks laboured when tracking back. Take my hat off to the recruitment team for getting Wright, the lad looks more impressive every time I see him.

Don’t disagree, but without that penalty, poorly given in my opinion, would they have got a point?

No, of course not, so how they played or indeed we played is completely irrelevant . Remember its goals that count. You don’t get points if one doesn’t stick the ball in the net.

    Exactly

    Emerson Royale
    William Saliba

2 examples of handball not given when their arms are actually lifted above shoulder height and the ball strikes the forearm.
Both went to VAR and not given.
The ref had history of being dubious before last night.
    Jokers need dealing with.

I've read Swindon fans on their own forum saying it's not a handball.

Yep we have had a few players who have talent, but for a number of other reasons just cannot consistently perform at League Two or higher levels.
In recent times I would add Zeli Ismail (New Saints) and Alex Jones (Tamworth), both now 28 years old and should be at the peak of their careers.

On the lack of goals, I think we've missed Walker. He'll get goals in this team, shift Chapman to the right and I think we'll be more potent as a side.

I'm not sure you know, we'd be screaming blue murder if we hadn't gotten give for us
Blasted at him? He was over 10 yards away

Can’t believe it’s still debated it was never a penalty, watch a PL game and VAR check these incidents 5 times a match when the ball hits a players arm down by their side and it’s never given. Add to that the ref had no chance of actually seeing the incident as there were players in the way. Even Swindon fans said it wasn’t . That said we’ve only got ourselves to blame, refs aren’t bias they are just garbage at this level the best teams take them out of the equation. You often make your own luck in sport.

Only one that I can see on there.

Unfortunately it's a little more complicated than whether or not a player has lifted their arm or not. The problem is that the examples you give are ball to hand. Halliday's was a deliberate movement of the arm towards the ball. I'm not sure what the defence is on ours yesterday. There are 2 possible defenses as far as I can see...

The ball didn't hit his arm.
He didn't lean into it to block with his arm.

Yes sorry, “fired in“ would have been a better phrase. Either way he could hardly get out of the way and his body was not unnaturally bigger.

If I'm mistaken on the rule I hold my hands up, no pun intended. Are we saying that if your hand is down by your side it can never be a hand ball?

The FA rule says it is an offence if a player:
    • touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
Did Halliday make his body unnaturally bigger? Not for me.

On a separate note I’ve seen Swindon fans claiming our goal was offside so they’ll see it as even stevens.

Yeah I get that but these guidelines are surely for when the ball strikes an opponent who can't move out the way. In this case, it looked like Halliday leans into the flight of the ball. Its a deliberate movement to stop the cross. He can't get his body across in time so he leans in using his arm.

If having your arm down by your side can never be handball you'd see players using their arms to control the ball and gain an advantage all the time.

Why wasn't there more of a protest from our players? They knew it struck his arm and it was a pen. We'll win some and lose some this season.

I see the moron who ran onto the pitch last night was arrested and has been given an indefinate ban.

What the hell were the stewards doing, he was out there a good 20 to 30 seconds before anyone did anything to remove him.
