First 10 mins we didn't start. Then did well. Second half they shaded it. We need to be better at putting teams to the sword when we're on top. Wright is chipping in, but Chapman isn't, Perreria isn't, the central mids aren't, the centre backs aren't. Lack of goals is going to do us in, not referees.

Once the ref gives the penalty he won’t change his mind, we drew the game simply by not taking or created enough chances to kill the game off.
Even Platt said this in his interview in the T&A this week. Until we do this we will continue to be vulnerable to late goals and decisions all season.Inspector, Bantam75, Allotment Bantam and 6 others like this. -

Funny how a freakish handball can judge how some saw our performance. Personally I thought we played some decent stuff tonight and a lot of the team had good games. The back four all played well, the full back were solid throughout. Gilliead had a very good second half, at times pressing in their area, Wright again was on form. Smallwood generally controlled the midfield. Chapman was the usual Chapman, moments of brilliance followed by poor passes. Cook again quiet and Periara better but still not.doing enough.

Play East instead of Gilliead - this is his kind of game.
Drop Dion, he's been poor regardless of who we've played. I wouldn't mind if we started Angol instead, even though he still hasn't scored.
I wouldn't drop Cook, though, and Chapman has looked bright even if he can't score for toffee.
Should be a good game, but we do now need Eisa and Walker back because we're getting a bit samey IMO.net blaster, Inspector, Jayteebee and 4 others like this. -

How frustrating of Angol not to square on the right, with two central.

Damn, honestly, I can't believe we're walking away with just one point.
The only player that consistently struggled tonight for me was Platt, who got turned THREE times. Not his finest day, I think he struggled with the pace of Swindon.
Pereira/Chapman/Wright is a really nice trio to watch, but damn it, why can't Chapman finish?! Chapman is always millimetres away from putting games to bed, and honestly, he has to improve that side of his game. He had one chance first half that fell to him in the middle of the area and he had all the time in the world to... miss. Again.
Thought Smallwood had won us the game with the free kick at the end, but again, just wide.
Very frustrating, but I agree with what Mark Hughes said after the match: we were the better side, and Swindon got lucky tonight - not that they'll care how they got a point, because ultimately they stay above us.
Boy oh boy, though, if anyone other than Cook and Wright knew how to finish, we'd have won 4-0 tonight.simons (woking bantam), Inspector, Hulmebantam and 4 others like this. -

His resistance to doing the defensive work will also be the reason he didn't get a sniff at Luton I'd imagine.JonButterfield, bailiff bridge bantam, Inspector and 4 others like this. -

We've had games recently where we got more than we deserved.Tonight we experience the opposite. Better side for 70 minutes but not getting the crucial second. Feels like a defeat.

I don't understand this
Only 3 wins from 8 home games
We have the players, we have the skills,
But we need the intensity for much more of the game than we are currently showing, we are so slow at times and it's costing us ....Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...vladimir, Manningham bantam, Dennis and 3 others like this. -

Think one of the reasons we looked so at ease first half was because Swindon were so poor. After 10 minutes they did pretty much nothing, no pressing, no attacking, nowt. Second half they actually came to play and made for a different game. That said our keeper had little to do again and that solidity is a good starting point for a strong season. We've just got to learn to kill teams off when the opportunity is there which is what we should have done first half as there is very little between the vast majority of teams in this division.

Someone posted on here some Burton fans thoughts on Chapman that there was a good player in there somewhere but his confidence was shot to bits.
Perhaps now he's getting a regular run in a side winning games that confidence is returning and we're seeing his ability come to the fore.
He's certainly becoming our most likely route of creating something and was really unlucky not to score at Grimsby with the shot on the turn so if he can just up his output over the coming months then as a team we'll be benefiting massively.Kevin1954, Awol, bantamdave41 and 2 others like this. -
The tendency to blame the ref amuses me. Its an abdication of reality. The table is about right. Based on what we've seen so far, we'll be in the mix for the play offs but won't be good enough for top 3. Its a very hood platform for tweaks in January, but only if we're honest about what we need rather than blaming others.

Home form is becoming a problem. Too easy to take a point off us as we don't build on leads either through a poor second half performance or failure to take our chances. Tonight was a bit of both.
That swindon side should've been taken to the cleaners in the first half. As soon as we went one up they looked like they'd rather be anywhere than on that pitch but we didn't go for the jugular and let them get a pasting at HT whilst still in the game.
They didn't create much clear cut in the second half but put some decent balls in the box and we weren't stopping them early enough. No surprise that was the source of the handball.
Overall that's a really poor couple of points dropped against a poor side. But we'll continue to have these problems until others start to chip in with goals. The Evidence, Tony Wilkinson, Kopendin1964 and 2 others like this. -

Shame that’s a real kick in the balls, we played well and were the better team but didn’t finish them off and you end up leaving it up to chance unfortunately. Need a cutting edge if we want to get promoted.

Oh my god, just seen the pen - how can he give hand ball for that? His arm was by his side and Halliday was sideways on to the ref. He can’t possibly have seen it.
Coupled with the foul on Oliver beforehand, it’s just incompetent refereeing. Extremely frustrating.Offcomedun, meelin, Gardscoigne and 2 others like this.
