Mixed emotions today for many reasons...

On the game chuffed we'd round off with a win, anything other would have been anti-climax however in keeping with the rest of the season.

Most players were really steady at worst, however think we were helped by how bad Newport looked at times.

One moan, the end of season "parade". Took an age to get going and a ridiculous amount of hangers on. Not sure why we have to have wives, kids, parents and mates on the walk round.

Could he have been scouting for MK Dons just in case we made the playoffs?

 

Our best of the back three today was Oggy by a country mile. I hope we can get him in on a permanent deal. He’s just got better ever game since his return to fitness. Still a lot to learn but strong as an ox and now starting to show composure on the ball.

And yet up until the two goals Newport were arguably the better side. This division literally is about taking your chances cos there ain't that much between any of the teams outside the top 3.

 

29 goals in 23 games at home sums this up perfectly.
We’ve had games where we’ve had enough chances to kill teams off and just not scored enough of them.

Only 9 wins and 8 draws at home.
Just not good enough.

 

We were a bag of nerves for the first 30 RT. They were far and away too gung-ho for their own good and it shows . Over 80 goals conceded this season because they left gaping holes in the middle of the park and at the back as they tired.

 

So pleased we stuffed them. Time wasting at throw ins and dead ball kicks was not addressed by the ref at all.

Their manager said after the game their tactics were to silence the crowd. Well actually Crawley did that.

Great support from the City faithful today.

 

I hope if he's back next season that he starts to drive forward with the ball a bit more rather than passing it sideways to Platt all the time.

 

Not sure but @SteveC said he was there to see Chapman, but when he brought Kavanagh and Pointon off and replaced them with Smith and Odour he left sounds logical I doubt Alexander sees Chapmans future at Valley Parade.
