Kevin, I think you're missing the point. He's not suggesting they will throw the match, he's saying that like with any other team where their season has already been decided, and with nothing more to play for, it's a far better scenario for us than one where they'd be going in needing a win to seal the title and/or promotion.

Just some of the reason(s) being;

1 - They'll likely give younger, more inexperienced players a chance of first team football.
2 - Some of the first team stalwarts of the season will get a deserved rest / not play as long as they would have if they had to win
3 - Not all those first-team stalwarts on the pitch will give their blood, sweat and tears as they would if there was anything riding on it (i.e might think twice about those crunch tackles, or that extra sprint, in what is in essence a dead-rubber)

All the above work in our favour to some degree or another, which gives us a likelier chance of winning (of course not guaranteed).

Hope your right Steve, but I think Salford will get at least 4 points from their last two games. The football gods are with them, losing at Wimbledon deep into injury time, miss a penalty yet still get two goals to win. Then yesterday while Harry Lewis was flapping at a corner and claiming a foul, Salford with 10 men win again in stoppage time.

 

Who knows what will happen. All I know is that on our day we are capable of beating anyone in this league. Sadly we are also capable of losing to the worst team in this league.
