My husband agrees with you. The cover only protects to -4 and the ground regardless of air temperature will be even less. He also says the pitch needs no walking on it to allow it to recover. It needs to be taken off now and just left alone for a few days but we are playing on it Tuesday so that won’t happen.

 

Of the 4 games that are on Newport have a lot of pitch support and money from the rugby club that own the stadium and MK Dons have undersoil heating. For the other 2 (Barrow and Gillingham) they likely didn't have the worst of the cold weather and they have both had games called off for Frozen pitch in the last 1 or 2 seasons.

A manufacturing company knows that if machinery breaks, business stops.
A company reliant on cloud technology knows if the internet goes down, business stops.
So why don’t football clubs put any value on the pitch?

The only way to rectify our pitch problems in the winter is heat and plenty of it. We either install underground heating or what I suggested yesterday warm air under the duvet. I suggest the cost will be far too expensive. Crowd funding?

 

I think it would be pointless as it is only 4c here. It isn’t only the frost. Did you notice the state of the pitch and explained that this was caused by the young ones playing on it when the ground was freezing killing off the grass.
