My worry is that the tactics that served him in the PL might be above the capabilities of L2 and will he be able to adjust to the level we're at. I hope it works for us but he might have to sacrifice some of his ideals to get to the level he needs. I do think he'll take us forward though

We have to be patient; something City fans ran out of a few seasons ago. Nevertheless patience is still required. I personally don’t think we can get promoted in one leap and no doubt I will get flak for saying that. If this system we are playing is what MH wants then so be it, but we have to do it much better. We are too easy for the opposition to plan ahead and work out a plan. Yes we must also be flexible within in a match to change or tweak the system as @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam has said or it becomes much easier to play against and take points.

I think our recruitment chief is already on the case for January. Maybe MH is trying to protect the players from the fans disgruntlement and not announce to the world that we are having a few problems. This is my conclusion after thinking about it over the weekend.

That’s a good point and there’s an argument to say league 1 or Championship players would fair far better, but like McCall who did better in league 1 than 2 with us. But we are 6th with a game in hand on 3rd and put for a debatable penalty and a shocking back pass we could be 4 points better off and nobody would be batting an eye lid.

It’s fine margins imo, tweaks to finesse us yes definitely, but reinvent the wheel as some want no that’s well ott.

You're right, but in fairness he has the best players in the world (country at least), whereas we don't and we've only just started playing this brand of football.

Not changing is a strength - consistency is an asset - I know you probably just mean switch tactics mid game, ie throw on another forward, but I really do feel it's vital we become a club that actually stands for a brand of football.

Imagine improving and building, instead of firing, hiring and constantly resetting.

I saw your comment about the formation and thought that seemed wrong. In reality it is a fairly fluid and flexible approach and far more evolved than a simple 4-3-3.

I agree with the playing it out from the back with pace. However there are more tricks to Manchester City. Watch the first goal on this clip. Classic route one!

Absolutely right about Pep. If a player sees a run he has no problem with a long ball. Our problem is that we do not use that option. Am sure most have seen players making runs up front only to be ignored and the ball passed sideways or back. We need better more fluid options ourselves to mix it up and less predictable

Theirs a difference between long balls and balls down the channel for the likes of Haaland to chase. We don't go long very often as we have one target Cook, who to be fair isn't a natural hold up player nor a player who will run the channels.

That’s why the Gilly Smallwood partnership will prevail, anyone thinking that Sutton could sit in there in place of one of those and be AS effective must like women’s football ;)

Sutton is shite. Forget about him.

Gilly is doing ok but he isn’t the answer. Smallwood has been a disappointment in the main.

We need to improve CM in January.

Our front players have stopped making runs. What's the point when the back players pass it around themselves allowing time for the forwards to be marked up.

That's the reason we will always be dominated in midfield because Gilly is not up to it.
Sutton may be shite but he can tackle and pass and keeps possession when under pressure non of which Gilly can do. You need to watch his game more carefully it's not just his mistakes his overall contribution and all round game is poor. Wether Sutton or East or another we need better there with Smallwood

Trevor for christs sake . Sutton can’t pass wind. Stop deluding yourself. He can run in straight lines fast with his chest out and not much else. Finishing is abysmal as both the opportunities he’s had recently showed with the one on ones with the keepers. His attempt at chipping or lobbing the keeper was poor to say the least..

Sutton is utter shite. Using up a place in the squad.

We need better than Sutton on the bench.

Gilliead 106 games for City, 2 goals. He has given away more than he has scored, Sutton 51 Games 3 Goals with no blundering mistakes because he looks after the ball better

I wish we could have kept O’Connor,Watt and Vernam and tried to get rid of Sutton,Angol and Gilliead.I know wishful thinking with contracts and players wanting higher league of football but just imagine how much better this team would be ;)

Maybe but, Gilliead never even gets in those positions for us to judge if he is any better.

And that’s how it should be, his job is to sit in front of the back 4 .
