Great possession does not guarantee goals, and that is where the issue lies.
Having a good defence is all well and good but goals win games.
21 goals in 16 games is not enough and even the shots on target to attempts ratio is poor,

Is it time to scrap the system, stick someone up alongside Cook, go long, hit the channels, play for territory, get wingers to the byline, go 442 and play conventional, traditional football at home? Something has to change at home and given the choice between personnel and tactics it needs to be the latter.

I'd say most threads you've commented in with regards Cook

Yet all your above was more than acceptable until the last 4 games whilst Cooks was scoring for fun, we don't supply our leading goal scorer well enough (which I agree) so we don't go to the source of the problem we drop the only player who was hitting the net on a regular basis.
Sparkie came in with I believe 13 games left of the season he looked at the squad and made the decision how he wanted us to play, adding more players to the squad with regards his preferred formation, I agree it seems he wants to persist with it as he said on his post match interview it works, he isn't going to change it.
What was your view with regards Oliver's chance yesterday and how he took it or didn't ?

One incident summed up the match for me a fee kick 10 yards inside the Crawley area players waiting in the box and two passes later it was in Lewis’s hands but hey we kept possession.
66% possession totally ineffective and a very poor spectacle give me Parkyball any day of the week

3rd .... we may be looking at needing to going on a stupendous run just to secure 7th. We are seriously under performing at home and it needs sorting. That said Bolton did this a few years back. They clicked in January and did get promoted.

If we where battering teams then fair enough but we are making sub standard teams look ok :(
Crawley should have been battered out of sight but yet again we made them look good
Grimsby our keeper getting the motm have lost there last two games

To me Hughes is trying to be clever and it ain’t working
We have a striker who will get goals
We have a defence that will stay solid if we don’t piss around at the back with the ball
We have the best keeper in the league
We have two wingers that will cause damage if they are given the ball
We have the best central midfielder arguably in the league
We have plenty in the squad as back up

so please tell me why is it so difficult to get it right if everything is in place to do it ?????

He certainly sounded to take umbrage to what Raynor said.

Yeah watched it again this morning shocking error by Gilliead in general I think the defence have improved rather poor performance from Gilliead yesterday. Anyway we are still up there I'm rather glad next games the FA Cup let's focus on that .

Sorry I don't have your optimism with regards Oliver. I'm not sure he would have buried it as we have seen in the PJT games he's hardly been an outstanding player, unless Sparkie goes two up top or drops Cook unfortunately Oliver isn't going to be a regular starter

seems and obsession to play possession football and pee around at the back with a one man up top system :( amazing how many managers we’ve had who like to play this way but all have failed ........... but the so called hoof ball merchant came in and nailed it within 2 seasons ........... yet somehow his football wasn’t good enough for the experts :(

the optimism revolves around him getting goals at a higher level ............ maybe if he actually got a decent run of games then he may actually prove his worth ............. yet your basing his performances around the tin pot trophy games and a game and half at the start of the season when in reality the whole team didn’t perform in either game ............. you go back to the Doncaster game and the amount of crosses put into the box that went straight down the keepers throat was that down to Oliver that our crosses where shocking ????
Put crosses into the right areas he will get goals and he’s proven that already

I said the same to my mate. I knew it wasn't going into the box because both centre halves were still in our half of the pitch.
Unless Hughes is going to recruit the right players to play this system, then he should play to the strengths of the squad at hand.

Now your into trying to predict the future, Oliver sticks his chance away and that puts pressure on Sparkie to give him a run.
When you come on as a late sub you have to take you chance my point was he didnt seem confident enough and immediately started looking for options to pass the ball, IMO strikers have on kind of mentality I have the ball in the box I go for goal and Oliver didn;t for whatever reason.

This was my comment regarding Cook at half time Cook should have scored. https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/bradford-city-vs-crawley-town-saturday-29th-october-3-00pm.6563/page-4#post-692995

did he score the equaliser against Wimbledon late on ????
So tell me did he start the next league game???
No he didn’t so what makes you think it would be different had he scored yesterday ????
We will go with the same system against Mansfield regardless of what happened yesterday
We have Harrogate in the cup Saturday let’s just hope he actually changes it up top either Cook alongside another or Oliver just to actually give him some game time

Hope it’s the last we see of Gillead, he’s powder puff and a complete moron. That mistake yesterday is unforgivable. I was also thinking we got relegated with Plymouth, look where they are now….this club really does test me at times.

How can I base my opinions on anything else he's not playing regular league two football because our manager prefers this system which doesn't involve two strikers.

He started the Doncaster and Barrow games got subbed because he was not causing the Doncaster/Barrow defence any problems on comes Cook and gets us back into the game at Barrow, FACT.

It was a poor game, despite the Stats.

Despite the possession (66%), the 23 shots (I struggle to remember that many) with 7 ‘on target’ (if they were, they certainly didn’t really test the keeper), it was a poor poor game.

We play Harrogate next Saturday, who have only one win in the last six. Surely a time to put them to the sword and get our scoring boots on again.

Yes pass it round but at some point move out of the pedestrian pace into a sprint. Sometimes drill it down the channels and/or an over the top ball.

We have become so slow, predictable and frustrating to watch.

He did and credit to Oliver he got us a point, of course he didn't get a start the following game as Cook was scoring on a regular basis, Sparkie wouldn't drop Cook the form he was in.
Oliver got back in the starting line up at Colchester guess what he was subbed for Cook who never lost his place in the squad after that game.
I've posted I'd like Sparkie to try a different approach on Saturday against Harrogate but I won't be holding my breath, certainly not after listening to his post match interview yesterday.
