I am having to endure 22/23C at the moment:cool: So was looking forward to watching on I-Follow in the shade. Still I suppose the game will be put back to late February/Early March and I will be able to be at VP.
Safe journey if the fog is down and the game on. I guess it will affect the whole of the Vale of York and could cause issues for @Park bantam@Park bantam Lamboughini;)
Unfortunately if cancelled then the Carlisle support will be reduced for a Tuesday night match.

I reckon the "surrounding areas" will come into play massively

You have to make your mind up whether you want to risk it. Carlisle fans should take comfort from the fact that there was a pitch inspection yesterday and it was fine. Same conditions and temps, so should be ok. If they inspected at 9 then it would be off, but sensibly the ref is giving maximum time for the pitch to recover.

Absolutely not! Terrible idea, for three reasons:

    1. The summer is cricket season. Summer football would be a disaster for our national summer game.

    2. People have many other activities and calls on their time in the better summer weather - holidays, weekends away, Saturdays out with the family, friends round for BBQs, etc, etc. It's bad enough that the season now starts in early August, meaning many fans miss early season games, without creating more difficult choices in late May, June and July.

    3. Football is one of the things that makes the winter bearable. Imagine November to February with no games to attend, look forward to or discuss? Not me and, I suspect, not many football fans.

What makes the whole thing worse is that while at least someone like you isn't likely to have to go all the way if it's called off we are in a cost-of-living crisis and a two-hour round trip is hardly an insignificant cost for some.

Not to mention aren't we as a society as a whole supposed to be doing things like reducing the number of unnecessary car journeys we take? Having hundreds if not thousands having to travel to a match and having to either turn back part way or get all the way and head back when a match isn't then on hardly seems environmentally friendly

Yeah I know, I was more talking about a general policy change if the goal is to stop matches at this level from having to be called off. The investment needed to prevent it with actual grass is way beyond the budgets of League 1/2 teams and even many Championship clubs have so the only viable way to prevent this would be artificial pitches being required if a club can't afford state-of-the-art pitch management systems
