Not sure. He's done the usual thing of gathering together a bunch of players who have played for him before only this time they've gelled well.

One thing they do well though is have lots of shots. They almost always have more than the other team. Suppose it gives them more chance of scoring. Also, as mentioned at the start of the season. They brought in some big heavy experienced defenders. They've stopped goals and also scored them. Helps when the quality of the free kicks are decent as well mind.

Aren't any of our opponents from our many cancelled games available to play next Saturday? It's getting a bit ridiculous now. We have more fixtures in an average July!

    They've all got matches:
    Gillingham are away to Swindon
    Carlisle are away at Rochdale
Walsall are in the FA Cup

Only league 2 teams not playing this weekend are Newport, us and Crewe

They should put on an open training session or something. Try to get a few fans down.

I could be wrong, but i thought Shipley bantams bought those lights as a means of helping the grass grow, not for thawing out the pitch, which they seem unable to do.

The main purpose of them is to grow the grass but they do give off some heat so they can help thaw the pitch to some extent

They are dual use. Halogen lights produce heat as well as aid photosynthesis . Expensive to run , but heat generating nevertheless . So a good use imho.

Kev is correct they are dual use. They were bought by Shipley bantams to aid grass to regenerate quicker but do generate some heat so will help a frozen pitch.

But they don't seem to work.Twice recently they have failed to thaw frozen areas of the pitch.

Now i'm no horticulturist but i'm sure most clubs use LED light rigs these days. Not sure what ours are though

The wont use LED,s for the job those lights are doing RT. Floodlights yes of course however as LEDs don’t generate any heat they will be Halogen. That’s why cars with LED headlights never defrost the headlight glass. Weird but true.

Yeah I did wonder mate. It does seem to be the same section of pitch that was causing concern before the Harrogate game, although that was for water retention.

Looking at yesterdays postponements. Then most occurred in League 2 with only three games played. In League1 it was eight games on. The Championship saw only the Blackpool match postponed and none cancelled in the Premiership.
I assume that some in the Premiership and Championship may have under pitch heating. But surely not many League 1.
So is it down to the quality/age of the frost covers at VP?
    Can @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler shed any light?
Given the substantial sums the EFL get as payment, then perhaps they could offer some assistance to clubs .i.e. 50% towards the cost of approved standard frost prevention measures.
Clubs will lose out on a lot of revenue for cancelled matches.
As well as the carrot then possibly some form of stick, with a ‘postponement’ fine if there is no evidence that the club has taken ‘reasonable and effective measures’.

maybe down to cost and I bet the majority of games that did good ahead in the championship would have had a fair few clubs that graced the PL at some point over the last decade or so .......

Assuming the club lost a wedge of money due to the postponement how about buying one of these to put over the area that always seems to be the problem. Would pay for itself in no time?

Say 600 Carlisle fans return their adult ticket for the re arranged evening match that in itself would equal the cost for the tent.
