I keep seeing that quote. Who has he got promoted ? I can remember Rotherham once but that is it.

You can never really tell for sure from 1 image as you can't see the frost under the ground, also they are going to pick a picture from the part of the pitch which is playable rather than the area that the referee had concerns over. Don't see what it's going to achieve as the referee will say it wasn't playable and Barrow will say it was, whoever looks at the complaint won't have a clue if it's playable or not as they weren't there. Seems to me like a club trying to avoid blame and avoid paying the costs for Salford.

    You're forgetting the fact that;

    - Hospitality (100+ guests per matchday) opens at 12:30 so a decision would need to be made or it could get very messy for guests, staff, refunds etc.
    - Turnstiles usually open at 1.30pm so a decision would have to be made before stewards, staff, and fans arrive.

Not to mention all the public services, stadium staff etc incurring wages as a result of starting their working day.

12 noon is the very latest a pitch inspection could be called for us, realistically, without incurring significant additional expense.

Success is more than promotions. I think he’s been promoted with Boston and Crawley in Conference, and Rotherham in the League, but he did well enough at other clubs to earn the right to manage Leeds and have another stint at Peterborough. He surpassed expectations at Gills too.

yes, he’s an odious character, but he does a good job wherever he manages when weighted against expectation.

we expect promotion here. He would 100% have delivered it. Not gonna win prizes for longevity but we’d have gone up automatically under him with our budgets.

it’s touch and go if we make playoffs under Sparky, under whom, it has to be said, we are underperforming.

How far do you come Park? Depends on route / roads but we can get a fair way in 2.5 hrs with a 30 min margin on top?

Absolutely right. Sparky is too nice, as was McCall.
What we need is a right nasty bastard like Evans or Barton combined with a real nasty piece of work as captain.
100% tried and tested blueprint for league 2 promotion.

I think you have to give him credit for Crawley getting promoted in 2011. He left in April of that year I believe to join Rotherham who he understandably thought had more potential. He was proved right with 2 successive promotions to get Rotherham promoted to the Championship.

He failed at Posh. He failed at Leeds. He left Gillingham on the verge of relegation. He failed at Mansfield. His promotions with Boston were don't by committing a criminal offence.

Horses for course's he is a L2/Conference promotion manager not sure I would hang my hat on promotion to the Championship with him tho
We need him or someone like him to get us out of this khazi league and to consolidate in L1 then a manager of Mark Hughes calibre to take us further
He's an odd/unlikeable (to say the least) character but his record at this level as he is proving at Stevenage can't be ignored
Mark Hughes isn't a L2 manager (he's better than that) and is struggling tactically to get us in the mix he hasn't the experience at this level, trying to keep possession in the back four (invariably giving the ball away) and only one up front isn't the way in L2, top half L1/Championship yes but not L2

Difficult aswell for a ref. Imagine a Barrow player breaks his ankle on hard ground, will they just get in with it or complain it should never have been played?

It's easy to play the injured party when it's not you that's responsible for any decisions.

Sadly it’s becoming too commonplace for games to be postponed for minimal reasons.
I said earlier the last home game we played at 3pm Saturday was Nov 19th.
Yet the idea of moving kick off times to 1pm was met with rage and threats of wanting season ticket refunds.
Instead we’ll be playing many of our games on a Tues night.
Something has to be done about the amount of postponements even if the clubs have to foot the bill.
Maybe it should be football league criteria that undersoil heating is compulsory and maybe there needs to be penalties for failing to fulfil a fixture on the scheduled date.
Many fans book travel and time off work and a reasonable right to expect the game to take place on the advertised date barring extreme circumstances which doesn’t include a Covid outbreak or the King/Queen coronation / death.

If your pitch isn't fit for playing a game, don't let it go to waste. Train on it instead

We had a right nasty bastard with track record of League 2 promotion in Derek Adams. That went well.

Where are clubs in league 2 finding £500,000+ to install it and the £1,000+ per day to run the undersoil heating especially when they might only be in the EFL for 1 season? Postponements are part of football. Having 3 games postponed due to the weather isn't that bad. Only way you reduce the risk of postponements due to frozen pitches is by allowing 3G pitches

    3 games postponed for weather.
    1 postponed for Queen dying.
2 moved because World Cup was on.
2 postponed due to FA Cup
    1 moved for King coronation.
    1 moved for TV

oh and several moved on police advice

just not acceptable, why bother with a fixture list
