Early thoughts after the game were I was a bit disappointed we didn't take more of an advantage in the first half to make it 2-0, but after getting home and thinking back with a clearer head I would of definitely took a 1-0 win before the game so can't be disappointed when that's exactly what we got.

First part of the job done last night and that is all we could have asked. Some of our fans are far too critical

Atmosphere was fantastic, and well done to the NWK drummer for keeping it constant, people don't realise how important those boys are to keep the atmosphere going

    Bring on Saturday

I really don't get some of the negativity. The game didnt throw up any surprises. It was always going to be tight and for me, a draw wouldnt have been a disaster but a lead of any margin is a fantastic result. Other than the freak Peterborough result, there isnt more than s goal in any of the games.
As has been mentioned, the Chapman injury has left us with a massive hole as we unfortunately have nobody who can effectively play that role. MH has therefore been forced to revert to a much more pragmatic system with the return of Clayton. Its not always easy on the eye but its effective, solid and makes us very difficult to beat. That system also works very well away from home. The home game was actually the one that concerned me the most so I'm delighted we've come out in front.
Avoid defeat on Saturday and we are 1 game from promotion. I think we will need to score up there but I'm confident we will.

Just an observation. I couldn't get used to football on a Sunday night at 7 pm. This morning I had to double check what day of the week it was, although maybe that's just my age!

At last, some perspective instead of the pages of "we are rubbish". Thanks @Bronco@Bronco I was starting to think I'd watched a different game.

They came and had a go, almost like it was a one off match, but we won, restricted them to one shot on target (which Lewis easily caught) and most telling of the way they allegedly "battered us" is their corner count was only three. That's not the sign of a battering.

Ok, it was stunning football, but it's job done and apart from Peterborough, no-one in any of the play off matches has more than a one goal lead.

Anyone would think reading some of the comments on here that we lost, but it's advantage us and a nil all draw up there will do very nicely. Before writing us off, just remember how many games we have actually lost by two goals this season.

I remember the play you talk about, a neat triangle opens up space for Smallwood but his first thought was to lay off backwards which went short, I think it was Garner who should have done better. I've said all season we lack the sort of midfielder who can turn and go, Wharton at Blackburn springs to mind as someone who aims to run in space at any opportunity. If we do go up, this squad needs a fair bit changing, would struggle to stay up as it stands. Hopefully that's a problem that we face next season.

With a side order of "Praise the lord". Carlisle showed nothing last night that has me in a cold sweat, wish I could say the same about the after effects of my Sheesh Mahal curry, which is currently making a swift exit.

    :joy::joy: on the curry ...

To the opposition, absolutely. Do folk not see our qualities? I'm bamboozled by the negativity this morning.

Some of our fans are very quick to put down our players and performances.
If Carlisle are up there for a reason, so are we.
1 of those reason's is good away form another is the 26 matches we have scored first 20 wins 5 draws and only one defeat.

I felt for the lad Ridehalgh so many times he had no out ball, as you say with someone in front of him it would have been an even more interesting game.

How many away games have we not scored in this season? (excluding 0-0 draws) which would be enough for us to win the tie?

answer is 4 and of them only Leyton beat is by more than 1 so Carlisle will have to do something only the champions managed all season to get to Wembley.

Last quarter of the match Carlisle seemed to be really targeting our RB position. They were hitting long balls into there repeatedly. It was obviously a planned tactic. Halliday might need some help out there on Saturday

That was never a penalty, the forward was backing in as much as Stubbs was shirt pulling, he then decided to throw himself to the ground, like a few of their players. The one where Stubbs was penalised first half a perfect example.

We were done there last season when Songo's perfectly good goal was ruled out by a standard shit level league 2 referee.

If clubs don’t allow all the tickets to be sold they should have to take a reduction in the e split of the money. Can not believe we have to share the money from our matches not only with Carlisle but also with Salford and Stockport

I don't see why they would. They aren't playing Carlisle in the semis and I would imagine there will be something written into the agreement that if they do end up facing them in the final, Barclay won't be allowed to play against them.

I actually fancy us against Carilse to be honest. We really need to do the business against them at home and then go up there and do a professional job on them. They've had a poor run up to the play offs and if they have some of their starters out that may affect their confidence. I pray the lad on loan gets called back.

If I could chose now it would be Salford in the final but I think either team will be a tough game at Wembley.

@Storck@Storck has confirmed in the other thread that they cannot play. Against the rules.
