In addition - no matter how good a pre season we may (or may not) have ......... Teams take time to gel, be that two three or four games. It's just a pity the EFL Cup starts so early, those who have not yet gelled are more likely to be knocked out - UNLIKE the PL teams ......... of course !

 

If we can't get rid it wouldn't make sense to freeze them out, it will be the last year of some contracts it will do neither them or the club not to show what they are capable of.

 

I'm struggling to pick 4 or 5 I'd be happy with seeing next season.

Well, there's some scope for improvement. I'd keep Mellor, Wood, Staunton and O'Donnell (though only as back-up; he might then look elsewhere). I suspect Scannell, Doyle and Akpan would want to be away, though they could be an asset in League 2. Sykes-Kenworthy is worth keeping too if his potential is what we're led to believe. McCarten will go, and the Reeves and Robinson situations will be resolved. Gibson and Patrick can be loaned out somewhere or get other opportunities and I can't see O'Connor wanting to stay. Wright is a problem but there are always ways and means in these cases.
With a bit of luck we might have quite a bit of room for manoeuvre.

 

I am hoping that Stefan is fully aware of how much this is going to cost. No doubt Gary has told him the ones he wants, and how much it will cost to bring in the players he wants, and as I am feeling optimistic already agreed the budget

 

Didnt Doyle partner that big unit who plays for Blackpool at Chesterfield. If so you are right, Doyle scored a shed load there

 

I reckon O'Donnell would be a good no.1 next season, though he is marmite seemingly. Keep GSK as backup. No point in scrabbling around for two keepers next season.

Mellor is capable, as is Wood.

New CB pairing needed badly. 2 great big b*stards please. An Andrew Davies Mark II would be ideal.

Riley, not sure what the story is there, but at 22 he should be pushing for a first team place, unless he's just not up to par. Really should have seen more of him this season.

If Akpan has a physical side to him, I'm not sure we've seen it enough this season.

Its more just wanting to draw a line under this miserable season. We were of kilter from day 1.

I'm glad Bowyer's in place and not just in the short term.

 

See thats the problem with relegation clauses! When it looks like we could go down, there is no fight from them, ZERO FaCKS given, cos they know they have a clause and wont go down!

Get rid of this shower of sh!te and get a real team in, with non of tnis relegation cluase crap for soft lads!

We need a real fighting team, like we used to have under Phil Parkinson

 

All depends on how its worded but generally, if the player's club is relegated and another club makes an offer that is the same or more than the clause it MUST be accepted by the player's club.

 

If that's how it works it doesn't sound such a bad thing for us! If we go down I can't wait to those offers rolling in!

 

But that might also be what they want if they are on good wages? If we can’t afford to get rid of them all, we should construct a reserve team, and they can play in that. It will keep them fit and who knows we might need them if we have injuries. However, we need to have a good strong first team to keep our heads up and try to get promoted.

 

Think we're looking at everything to harshly.

The blame is firmly with Edin, Collins, Hopkin and the board but we have to give everyone a second chance now barring Edin.

Some of the players might show better qualities in div 2.

 

He needs a chance to get in the team then. Arguably, he's had more impact than most/all coming on as a sub.

 

I wouldnt entertain a player who wanted a relegation clause inserted into his contract in the first place
