Oliver looks very poor and worryingly we gave him a three year deal.

Another bloated City squad that’s better on paper than it is “on the grass’

Worrying times, not the chest thumping performances we expected under Hughes, just the same old insipid shite from those wearing the shirt and those pulling the strings.

I think the stats tell you that some of our possession is pointless possession - however, we've got pretty much a brand new side and that's a legacy of the club's mismanagement over the last few years.

We knew it wasn't going to be easy to replace 7, 8 or 9 starters and get off to a flyer.

I'm disappointed today; we've gone from 22 efforts against Doncaster to 4 at Barrow. That is the very epitome of inconsistency, but that's something we can improve.

That should level out in time, and we need to be creating double figures worth of chances every game. Some of that will mean certain players need to be far more direct and actually shoot on sight more.

But we were without Walker, Eisa, Osadebe, and we're still relying on some very average players.

    This rebuild will take time.

    Another weekend spoilt by football.
We look good playing the ball in our half, we can knock it around for a few weeks. Sadly, we can’t attack and we can’t defend. Goal keeper only touch the ball three times and that was picking it out of the net. Hughes can’t dress this up. It was sh1te

Exactly this Broncs. 6 points and 6 goals from 2 games for a team that looked less than impressive and that have a brand new manager and 11 new players.
We have the advantage of having our manager in place for longer than them, and the majority of our new players in place from the start of pre season, yet we are the side that still need time to gel.
Someone make it make sense please.

jake young and Andy Cook must start next weekend. When they came in today it was much better up front.
Angol just seems nervous about running at pace and so far I’ve seen nothing from Oliver

Obviously, all the caveats as to how bad it was overall but I thought Crichelow and East looked good, Young and Cook have to start next week. Oliver looks miles off the pace, there were a couple of loose balls Cook would definitely have got on the end of but Oliver looked like he was running in treacle. I'm not saying Cook is better than Oliver overall necessarily, but his current form and condition is miles ahead so he has to start over him

One thing I will never agree with, at this level, is that your width should come from your full backs.

Full backs are there to defend and to bolster the midfield four when your wingers push on, to fill that hole.

Why expect the players who are furthest back on the pitch to carry the ball the most yards and cross, by passing the midfield.

As Clough said, football is simple. Two wingers who patrol half a pitch with two fullbacks doing the same behind them to fill the space they leave, will work at this level.

A ball winner and a quarter back in the middle.

Get that right and you won't get overrun in midfield and you create width.

Defenders at this level will struggle with crosses from the byline because its been coached out of them with complicated formations.

The best fullbacks we've had have always been defenders not quasi wingers. Get out of the league and then try that stuff.

He kept Bolton in the Championship in their first season up with no money and players not getting paid.
    Was that success?

If Harratt and Young play week in week out we’ll be up there no matter who plays up top.

I think the smattering of boos was down to shock that we could equalise in the 6th minute of added time and still be dumb and brittle enough to leave with nothing!

No, your point of a club ‘owning’ things is moot.
It doesn’t fecking matter one bit.

Yes. Hughes referred to Walker's knee injury in his post match interview. He said that the injury hadn't settled down as yet (whatever that means) and Walker was seeing a consultant early this coming week for a better assessment. As a minimum, it's likely that he will be missing for a few weeks. However, if the consultant advises surgery, he'll be out for a couple of months. With Osadebe and Eisa probably missing for many months to come, Walker's injury couldn't have come at a worse time. Fortunately, the transfer/loan window is still open.

    Taken from the Barrow forum.
New pitch, perfect for our possession based game on the deck which I think will beat Barrow on Saturday.
Canavan at the back for them.
I would play Chapman instead of Walker at 10 just for his direct pace.
I love Walker but we have a good enough squad to rotate for the needs of each game and imo Barrow have 2 tall but not mobile CB's so we need to get at them.

Unless he’s injured I believe Walker will play every game, just like Smallwood, Crichlow and Lewis.?
