There were things to be positive about -
    Halliday was excellent
    Ridehalgh defended well
    Young was a real threat
    East played well

Definitely room for improvement overall but let's not go overboard because we conceded a last minute winner.

    Just seen the highlights.

I can't believe no one has mullered Lewis today, the way they mullered O'Donnell last season.

First goal, shot from edge of area, HAS TO SAVE IT (if he's O'Donnell), second goal, STOOD ON HIS LINE (just like O'Donnell), third goal, FLAPS AT THE BALL (just like O'Donnell).

However, you've got to look at the whole team and not just single out one person like so many ding dongs on here did last season with ROD.

I'm kind of glad O'Donnell has gone, so I no longer have to read hysterical nonsense about how badly he performed when he put in a perfectly acceptable performance.

The reason we lost wasn't because of our keeper - it was because of our defending and our inability to create real chances.

Obviously, all the caveats as to how bad it was overall but I thought Crichelow and East looked good, Young and Cook have to start next week. Oliver looks miles off the pace, there were a couple of loose balls Cook would definitely have got on the end of but Oliver looked like he was running in treacle. I'm not saying Cook is better than Oliver overall necessarily, but his current form and condition is miles ahead so he has to start over him

That's just it a couple of balls into the box.
Oliver was clearly frustrated by the lack of service.
His body language was shocking from the start and got worse during the game till he was eventually subbed.
Some width would have been nice yesterday shame we didn't have any till Young came on and showed how it should be done but by then Oliver had been hauled off.

    Thoughts on yesterday.
Crichlow who I like was lucky not to get sent off. The yellow card he got was undeserved, but he clearly brought their player down in the 2nd half, but the ref bottled the decision.
Halliday defended very well, less effective going forward.
We improved greatly once Cook and Young came on. Oliver and Angol had no impact up front.
We certainly missed Walker's creativity and Osadebe's pace. Chapman had some good moments but some poor ones too. At one point he just stopped running when he could have got the ball in a good position if he had kept going.
The 2 goals we scored were good. Two of the three we conceded were poor, their 1st strike well taken.
On current form I hope we see more of Cook and Young, and Harratt when he returns from suspension.

A bit harsh on Barrow Bronco, they work very hard, chase lost causes and when they chase that lost cause their ball control is good. They have had a big turnover during the summer and obviously have a very good young coach in Pete Wild.
For us losing Jamie Walker is a big blow as Alex Gilliead doesn't look match fit. I don't want to see us "going long", and Mark Hughes won't do that but we need to get better service, and quicker, into Oliver, maybe getting the ball out wide sooner. On that I like the look of Jake Young and I am glad he is our player and not a loan. Pace and power, a bit of a throwback, a bit early to say but reminds me a lot of Steve Kindon back in the day.

A bit harsh on Gilliead, he doesn't look match fit which is to be expected.

When Gilliead is match fit I agree but a lot on here won't agree. I think if Cook doesn't start next week he will want away.

Neither Sutton or Gilliead are match, not enough game time, especially Gilliead. Like the look of Jake Young, pace and power.

We lost but I think it was the overhaul manner of defeat that's upset supporters and rightly so.
We should never of lost yesterday but possession counts for nothing if you fail to attack and defend. Doing the basics but make it count, it's not rocket science.

Of course we were poor, that we agree, but Watt isn’t Smallwood and visa versa. Excuse the pun but what I have seen so far in the two league fixtures East is on a par if not better than Watt…..He will become a very good player imho

I just hope Oliver ain’t gonna become a target now :( if we ain’t gonna create anything then no wonder he looks peed off ................. it’s happened time before over the last few season with Doyle and Vaughan when they became targets because managers refused to play to there strengths ...........Oliver did well at a league above in a poor side so there is a player in there but he’s wasting his time if we ain’t creating nothing for him ............... just hope that he puts Angol on the bench and throw Cook in who will get goals

Very unprofessional to not see the draw out and I think that’s what peed people off ................ Barrow ain’t a good team at all and we shouldn’t be gifting them 3 goals

It's early days but Ryan East has impressed me.Swindon fans rated him and I can see why.

That’s pretty reasonable, that’s perhaps why I said earlier, “ he looked disinterested “ and under normal circumstances should have terrorised the booked fullback. He let him off scott free after he was booked.

Just seen the highlights. As everyone else has said, the defending for each of their goals was shocking, Platt especially so.

Songo'o to start for me on Tuesday alongside Crichlow. There is no way Songo'o would have defended so poor and weak like that.

Young and Cook to start please too.

Losing Walker for a few weeks is a massive blow, we simply haven't anyone in the squad good enough to replace him like for like in my opinion.

Overall, over the two games I firmly believe he’s been the best of the bunch. He’s all over the place and effective with it.

As someone said earlier Harratt, Young, Walker should be our go to trio on current form?. Imagine adding Dion to that on the right? If only, as it may be weeks before we see it even getting Walker back soon ?
I know Cook scored, I know he was consistent in finding the net in a poor team, but sadly lacks pace he’s not the answer , other than as yesterday…an impact sub.

Very valid points made. We aren't privy to what the players are instructed to do before a game and we can only interpret what's played out before us on the field of play.
In other words we know how we want the team to play as spectators but they are carrying out instructions from the management which when applied isn't pleasing on the eye.
