Away vs Stevenage

I was shot down at weekend when I said Wood will become a good left back. Most think he would be better left midfield. I would love a good left midfielder in front of him, with them linking up like Meredith did with Reid

 

Out midfield didn't exist tonight. Why on earth we can't just pass the ball to each other. I know some times a clearance is needed but every ball went long.

 

Mugged em. but a clean sheet again. 3 in 4.

I think if he plays left back we lose some of his crossing ability which is a shame because lets be honest all our good moments tonight came from his crosses or corners. Right now, with this team we need to maximise the number of crosses he can make.

Me too. Just because they had a lousy season last year, doesn’t mean they are going to have another. We had our worst season ever last year.

 

I'm with you. Hes a left back all day long. A season of learning how to defend in this league will do him wonders. I think he'll spend most of his career in the championship once hes grown up a bit.

Our retention of the ball is shocking. And I'm starting to think that Scannell ain't really all that.

 

I said it was difficult to judge him due to the lack of a defence, he is now showing us what he is made of.

 

He isn’t fit yet, lacks confidence give him time.

 

He put in as many crosses from left back as he has playing left mid.

Get proper left winger driving teams back, have wood standing off ready for the lay off to whip those crosses in. His delivery is excellent

Silencing his critics, not unexpected anyone who’s ever watched football should know what effect a terrible defense can have on a keeper.

 

I don't think he can be judged on tonight's hoofing efforts. He needs space and to get it we need to pass the ball. The one or two times he looked threatening was from brief passing moves across the pitch making their players move around. None of the front lads had much output today but they all battled hard against high and bouncing balls.

 

Great win, but certainly not a good performance on the ball. But everyone to a man(except Akpan) worked their backsides off. Not easy 10 v 11 but we survived.

 

Ok, I get Scannell and Akpan (big style) are gash but to be a bit controversial I haven't yet got this love in re Donaldson ...
