Grimsby were the better side second half but we battled well. Looked tired halfway into second half.

Probably the last time we appointed a caretaker manager permantly, Jewell or Kamara perhaps?

 

A few things are becoming very apparent.

- AOC and POC are a very good CB partnership at this level in a back 4.

- Callum Cooke is a solid midfielder but probably isn’t the attacking mid that we all hoped for.

- FCD doing a solid job at RB but still think we need a proper RB in January. The lad from Leeds looks very good but feel like he’s more effective going forward.

- Guthrie and Clayton are still gash. Novak needs decent competition.

I should add that being hard to beat can take you a long way at this level.

 

They didn't, they were awful. Blowing out of their arse after 2 mins of coming on, not holding the ball up properly, they were dreadful.

Fair johns to the rest. The difference in resilience since mccall left is stark.

Agree with all that. We need 1, probably 2 wingers and a new forward in Jan.

 

They had more ball but were poor and created next to nothing.

 

What's impressed me most with Trueman & Sellers in charge so far is the timing off the subs, the correct subs, game management & desire to press and close players down.

7 points from a possible 9. Cracking job by the pair of them. They've turned the club around massively.

 

7 points from the last 9 is better than anyone would have hoped for.

It doesn't change anything about the manager or January recruitment decisions, but it staves off real desperation and is a genuine shot of confidence for the players and fans.

 

Wonder what the carrot cruncher will say after that?

 

Second half was poor. No control, and looked nervy. I guess that's to be expected though, because one win and one draw isn't going to magically make us solid.

What matters is we won - two fantastic goals.

Two things concerning me:

- Callum Cooke is wasting wonderful chances game in, game out. He could have killed off the last two opponents with ease. He needs to take a long look at himself for spurning those chances.

And that ties into:

- The last three goals have been fantastic - but those are not reliable, repeatable goals. We are making reliable, repeatable chances, but wasting them, and relying on long rangers and overhead kicks.

Nonetheless, well done to whoever they are. 7 points, fantastic!

Also, Guthrie was not shite. Embarrassing comments on here. Talk about pre informed opinions, Jesus Christ. Grow up, guys. Judge what you see, not what you saw a few weeks ago.

 

After their goal for all the possession expected of a home side OD didn’t have a save to make it was a very deserved win. Of course some of the problems haven’t gone away but we are making it up with organisation and discipline
