Second half was poor. No control, and looked nervy. I guess that's to be expected though, because one win and one draw isn't going to magically make us solid.

What matters is we won - two fantastic goals.

Two things concerning me:

- Callum Cooke is wasting wonderful chances game in, game out. He could have killed off the last two opponents with ease. He needs to take a long look at himself for spurning those chances.

And that ties into:

- The last three goals have been fantastic - but those are not reliable, repeatable goals. We are making reliable, repeatable chances, but wasting them, and relying on long rangers and overhead kicks.

Nonetheless, well done to whoever they are. 7 points, fantastic!

Also, Guthrie was not shite. Embarrassing comments on here. Talk about pre informed opinions, Jesus Christ. Grow up, guys. Judge what you see, not what you saw a few weeks ago.

I'm not wanting to go McCall bashing but the players actually look and act like a team, something that had evidently disappeared under McCall, Body language is massive in sport and the change in this in three games is remarkeable. To go from looking like conceding 5 or 6 a game to conceding 2 in three games, one an own goal, shows a team with a complete lack of trust in its previous management set up.

 

That's the issue with asking fans who they want.

9 out of 10 on this forum would have preferred Holloway to McCall prior to his Grimsby stint, and the ONLY reason for that is that Stuart isn't an exotic or lucrative signing, whereas ex-QPR, Palace and Leicester manager Holloway would have been.

It's the same thing with signings.

We've seen first hand how pants Eoin Doyle is unless he's in a team creating 20 chances a game, but many would have preferred him to Billy Clarke.

Clarke and McCall are known quantities, we understand what they're good at, and we know what they're not so good at. Sooner or later their deficiencies become all-encompassing, and we literally have people predicting we'll be in a relegation struggle, while also expecting Bolton to rise out of the mire - all based on the fact they're not stimulated by the comings and goings.

Assembling a competent side at this level is NOT about exciting fans by offering big name, big money, fresh, new signings. It's about getting in players that will win more games than they lose.

 

Do you ever give any credit to Bradford City players, Sutton must have seen the keeper off his line to lob him, give the lad some credit.

 

And yet Tranmere without 7 today due to COVID and injury and Palios saying they've had to play kids or face prospect of 15 point deduction. Losing 2-0, doesn't add up.

 

I agree that Novak has made a difference but I don't think we can just ignore the fact that not being 2-0 down inside the first 20 minutes every week takes some of the pressure off whoever plays upfront.

See Grimsby have been fined (suspended till June) for breaching Corvid rules and May have to reimburse costs to clubs for expenses incurred due to postponed matches

What's impressed me most with Trueman & Sellers in charge so far is the timing off the subs, the correct subs, game management & desire to press and close players down.

7 points from a possible 9. Cracking job by the pair of them. They've turned the club around massively.

Because your club chickened out of a fixture on spurious grounds to put it mildly. I doubt the efl rocked up and told your club to cancel without some kind of pressure from yourselves. Just accept that your behaviour smells a wee bit fishy
