Looking at the Stag's forum, they are reporting that Clough called out two of their players in his post match interview - Hewitt and Rawson. Can anyone who went, or who saw the match whilst on "holiday" say whether this was deserved?
I never like managers who do that publicly to their players, although I accept it is a tactic that works with some, but I always think anything like that is best done out of the public eye. If he is doing that after 4 matches and their 1st loss, I am not convinced that over the season they will maintain good form. It is a negative approach. If he felt they were that poor, why didn't he sub them?

Our left side is pretty unplayable at the moment.

The right won’t be far off when Oscar gets back either.

Lots to be pleased about with that result. Last seasons side would have gone down to a comfortable loss here. We had to dig in and weather a storm of pressure and intensity in the first half. We showed great character in coming from behind, we clearly have goals in us, and the fitness levels look excellent.

Lots to be pleased with. But I worry about the lack of striker depth. It needs addressing, or we could pass up a great chance of promotion

 

One thing a good manager does is NEVER belittle staff in public or within his peers. Shameful!

 

It's a lot quieter on here when we win than when we lose.

Him and Bowyer will both be looking for new jobs soon. Terrible way to talk about your players in public.

 

Don't leave out @Rcbantam only happy when we lose. Looking like they will not be posting much this season.

yeah he came good, but at the time I posted that comment about him being poor he’d just overhit a cross, fired a wild shot over and then produced a limp cut back that was easily intercepted within about 15 mins, so only with the benefit of hindsight can that post be questioned IMO!

Im very glad he pulled his finger out. His pace always caused them problems and he took his goal well. Well done Charles

 

Very similar to a Stuart McCall interview.

 

Looked well off the pace early on but got better as game went on, clearly far from match fit but you could tell late on in game he will be vital for us when fully up and running.

 

I'm sure he is a thoroughly decent man. But his ultra conservative tactics were a total turn off. I remember going to the Orient away game that ended 0-0. We played ten men behind the ball against a team in the bottom four who were on a terrible run of form and leaking goals for fun. The game was there for the taking and the away following was begging him to bring on Dylan Connolly to have a go at them. But instead he brought on a defensive midfielder to further shut up shop with 20 minutes to go. Utterly soul destroying. I'd been supportive of him up until then but that game killed it for me.

Angol has been a revelation so far, despite his wonky pens. Of course he’s going to miss more than he hits , shots wise, but boy he doesn’t half scare the oppo, and takes a huge amount of pressure off Cook as you say.

Once went on a weekend trip to York with the wife, I had no idea racing was on…..it was bloody bedlam! Enjoy if it’s just racing

 

TBF Exeter do have a sizeable number of fans who don't live anywhere near Devon. They call themselves The Exiles I seem to recall.
Back in the early 90's there was a group that regularly turned up at VP for Exeter games with a 'Yorkshire Grecians' flag.
