I can’t understand his thinking. If it’s another toothless performance, he’s goig to invite unnecessary pressure on himself. Not in terms of his job or anything daft like that, but there are 2-3 that look out of position and a couple that don’t look good enough.

 

Bowyer needs to do his job and go 442 at half time.

 

Since when has Hopeless EVER dominated the midfield? #clutching at straws.

 

In two games, Vaughan has had two decent balls to work with. He’s hit the bar and scored a goal. The midfield - and the system played by the manager with this section - have been put problems.

 

The word from the first 2 games is ‘frustrated’. And it lays with bowyer.

I saw the line up before Cambridge and thought Henley at left back in a 433 would Leave us short on width down the left. Doyle at 10 seemed strange. And Anderson playing with Scannell on the bench makes no sense.

We need more quality. But even with what we’ve got, 442 with Gibson and Scannell wide, and Devine and Palmer in the middle makes more sense. And we improved after those changes.

Agreed. I don't like knocking players who wear our shirt, but what I do dislike are when people defend players who play for our club because "they've got a good track record". Means nothing to me unless they can prove it on matchday for their current club. Yes, I understand he's been shifted around and played out of his normal position, but a good player would adapt to that. I think his good days were in the past, and he's just hanging on in there. If we dropped D or V (why?!) and played Doyle in the strikers role, I hazard a bet that he'd still not come up with the goods.
I hope we can move him on, and I hope for his sakes that he finds some form at his new club and re-establishes his career, because right now, he's in league 2 and most people are saying he's not good enough.

 

My two pence from the game today;

All these comments on the first half 4/3/3. At no point ever was it 4-3-3. It was always 4-4-2 diamond I’d say. Doyle cannot play the ten role.

Henley looked like a rabbit in headlights playing the ball forward in the first half. Was terrified. Had the ball played to him and with space in front, took touches and turned back. Then in the second half he seemed to have been told to push on and he looked better. Think it was him
Who drew the defender and played it back to Gibson for assist for Vaughan’s goal. However maybe wrong after a fair few beers.

Palmer looks to get on the ball but we don’t seem to pass it to him. He badly needs a Gary Jones next to him as an engine.

Anderson is no good.

Gibson flatters to deceive. Nice assist for goal and looked better with some space out left later on in half but still either tackled himself or lost the ball. But he is an option on the left if we go 442.

AO’C looks solid and comfortable. Not the best in the air against Hanson but very good at reading the game.

O’Donnell. Was a lot more comfortable than last season.

Vaughan and Donaldson together will cause havoc in this league.

I would say go 4/4/2 until players are fit. Gibson left. Scannell right. Vaughan Donaldson up front. Would like to see Longridge given a go.

I wish people would stop throwing their dummies out of the pram it’s pathetic. A lot picked Hurst as manager in the summer. How have his relegated team started? Everyone seemed to want the saviour Steve Evans, how have his team started?

Think you should read it @JonButterfield and you might understand why our 4-3-3 is failing and it doesn't matter that we're a different 2 club. Not seeing too much into it. We have issues.

Our midfield is a joke. Anderson is a massive problem and isn't good enough.

 

We shouldn’t be playing him in any role.
