Angol’s over egged cross to Cook after two minutes should have been buried, along with Cooke’s first attempt in the double save. Two nil up at half time wouldn’t have been out of place , making for a less nervy 2nd half.
I’m ok with the point….if only the above.

Eisa will hopefully add some pace and penetration, which we need. A goal scoring 10 would be a huge asset- hopefully a quality loanee from a big club. And I still think we need another striker. We only have 2 - thats not enough for a season.

 

Not written us off at all and certainly not as one game but those saying that we will walk the league blah blah because of pre season are now having a little reality check. Even you should have a little word with yourself.

Our signings in the summer were average and we lack quality which is clear. It was highlighted yesterday. We need better signings now.

 

We are defined by our budget and have to unearth quality not pay for it.So no one can say we will walk this league because of a good p[re-season Fordy.

 

The two commentators from Radio Devon said we could have been 2 up at half time we were the only side creating chances, unfortunatly we didn't take them but we will on another day.

I was actually pleasantly buoyed by the performance yesterday. We have clearly strengthened in key areas. Threlkeld (why couldn't ANDY K pronounce his name) looks like he might fill a hole that was there all last season. Ridehalgh similarly. I thought Gillead was solid if not inspirational. Angol promising (one game lads).

For me one of the most telling things was Vernham's second half cameo. I was happy to see him go and never be seen again after last year - dross in my eyes. Yesterday he looked motivated, fit and dangerous. If Adams can get a tune out of players that otherwise would make you pull your hair out then that is worth a couple of signings in itself.

Agree we need another striking option in all likelihood - not ten a penny though are they.

So, no not making it up! Issue with some of you is that you are caught in this positive trap the club is trying to drive forward. Be honest with yourself. We need better signings and that is clear. We lack quality.

Wonder what excuse @wetherbywhaler will make for Rupp not being at the game next week? What a disappointing owner he is.

That'll be Bristows bauy, brother's been working there on the slabs for over 30 yrs now.......probably made nearly every sweet you ever tasted ( if you were that brave)....still going but under different name now .....and yes, getting through Exeter off the M5 is STILL a pita but the train stops right outside and it's only a titchy city with the ground minutes from the centre.......would like to think all you guys & gals had a good day out at our house ( under the covid circumstances)....looking forward going up yours......Anyone try the Chunky pies etc ? - new supplier, let us know your thoughts...proper job or not ? ......ok game today , we lost a lot of players from last season and sold our brightest latest talent for a few bob but we'll take a few more games to gel and there are more youngsters in the wings which is something our Academy is good at.................all in all fair result yesterday, still pre-season really innit.

Yes I agree.
No competition for Cooke.
No striker that plays off the shoulder of the opposition defender.
Was gonna put no ball winner in the middle but realised Songo'o is to return.
He would have made a difference yesterday.
Once Threlkeld went off he would have protected Sutton instead of Cooke doing that job.

 

Got to admit he's not a good advert for attracting new constructive posters to these forums...

They were depleted with injuries and lost their star player through the week.
They were there for the taking but we didn't have enough quality to capitalise.
I was at the game yesterday, some of the decision making by Watt, Angol and Vernham 2nd half was very poor.
There were gaps everywhere to exploit but we were either too slow or too rash in making decisions which ended up in us not taking them.
