As things stand, City have not yet put any tickets, for this match, on sale and a source told me, a while back, that they were trying to get some clarification from the EFL regarding attendance at away matches.

However, Exeter have now put the home tickets on sale and, at least for the time being, home tickets are only being sold for the 'home' parts of the stadium.

In addition Exeter have, today, published a guide to "What to expect on your return to St James Park".
    https://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/2021/july/return-to-sjp/
Hopefully, we'll see tickets go on sale for the away sections soon.

The latest rumours surrounding away fans would suggest the first game might not have away fans in attendance.
Still awaiting a statement from the EFL.
Clarification pending but it's cutting it fine if you ask me.

It is cutting it fine. Too fine maybe.

One issue is that the EFL is likely to piggy back on whatever the PL decides to do (with some pressure from the Govt) about a Covid Pass. But whatever that is, their plan is to have it all ready for the opening of the PL season on 13 August, a week later than the Exeter game.

What rationale could the EFL possibly have for not allowing away fans for the first game when fans are already travelling around the country for pre season friendlies?

It's to be hoped away fans are allowed at our first home game, probably the biggest away following we could expect this season, so it would be a shame to miss out on the extra revenue

I bring attention to point 4 after reading Exeter's Covid admission rules.
Capacities will be reduced in standing terraces and indoor bars, whilst also providing some areas where spectators can socially distance should they wish to.
Now am I right in that the away end behind the goals is a standing terrace with a new roof added.
Therefore if we were allowed to travel it would be fewer than the the terraces actual capacity.

The same reason why BCAFC are saying you should wear a mask tomorrow following back to back games where no one has worn masks this week?

    And the Euros?

Typical unambiguous spin, Government led, so we can’t really expect anything else?

Is it the government, they have said the wearing of masks is not mandatory and is up to the individual, yet reading the statement from the club they are implementing ground rules with regards the wearing of masks even though fans who have attended previous pre season games where masks have not been worn once in your seat.

    Thanks for the info
The match falls mid 2 week Devon holiday for me so will be buying a ticket in the "home end"
Maybe the only way I will see my team this season (if other teams are less rigid in their approach to the situation)

Half the stewards on the way to the ground weren't wearing masks so many didn't bother.

A fair few wore masks at the turnstiles and in the back but took them off in their seat, a few left them on. On the final whistle many didn't bother putting them on to venture back through the stand.

I think the problem with this situation is that people have to make plans. Travel, cost, family, friends. To go to Exeter is a major outing, a heck of a long way from home and many would want to make it part of a break. I hope to go to the Orient game, a Bank Holiday, travel and family logistics to configure. The EFL needs to get its act together.

It’s five hours in the car, loads of hotels in the area if you don’t fancy coming straight back, it’s hardly arranging a three week self sufficient hike across the Sahara now is it? Two minutes buying the tickets, five minutes sorting a hotel, couple of minutes more if you’re buying train tickets. Done.
