Go to laugh at your post telling @Offcomedun to grow up after you had just used a childish Brexit insult yourself.

 

5,000 a year in a country of nearly 68,000,000 is the absolute definition of tiny! That's one extra person for every 13,600 existing UK residents. It's utterly insignificant to most people's lives, unless you are determined to be outraged for ideological reasons, which you, apparently, are. FFS try to keep a sense of perspective.

Throughout history people have always fled, and will always flee, deprivation, persecution, war, natural disasters etc etc, so the phenomenon of people seeking better lives in richer countries won't stop, unless and until the world's wealth and living standards are shared more equally - but don't hold your breathe on that one. So, given that fact, why should the likes of Italy and Greece have to take all of the migrants fleeing from Africa and Asia, just because they happen to be nearer those areas than we are? We take a small proportion of refugees, asylum seekers etc compared to most western countries, but make a much bigger fuss about it. Get a life.

Tens of thousands of marchers, protesters etc generally achieve the square root of feck all, apart from giving rigid authoritarians like you a bad case of apoplexy.
By contrast, the unelected weasel Cummings is systematically working to undermine the neutrality of of our judiciary and civil service, privatise our essential public services by stealth (under cover of the pandemic) and hand out lucrative contracts to inept companies like Serco and, despite the obvious and overwhelming incompetence on display, no one seems able or willing to do anything to stop him.

Another topic of conversation that continually just gets politicised.

It really comes down to two simple things.

1. Are country borders worthwhile?
2. If they are then should rules governing those borders be adhered to?

 

What exactly is it that you are trying to protect?

Those that live on millionaire neighbourhoods are often the first to preach, often not living in the real world. But whatever gets social media likes I suppose.

 

They are illegal economic migrants , they are queue jumpers trying to beat any systems put in place . Fleeing through war ravaged Europe to reach the decedent - highly racist UK . Mainly uneducated low skilled young men , put up in high priced hotels - getting free medical treatment - . They come here because they can see the " benifits" living in the UK offers , the media focus on maybe 1 boat with a token child onboard to " highlight " the perils of a dangerous sea crossing . The NHS - Social services can't cope with the indigenous population never mind these illegal migrants arriving , i bet the 100's spotted can be multiplied x 10 for those arriving and not stopped , they arrive with no passports - no documentation etc etc . I've no doubt the usual handwringers will say it's racism to mention but the majority in this country have had enough , if these illegal migrants destroy any documentation how do we know who they actually are ?. If they have a genuine reason why dont they go down the correct channels or have most of them something to hide ?. I would challenge anyone who disagree to leave the UK - go to a country you fancy living in but dont take any proof of identity and see how you get on , yet this is happening daily in the UK . We are a soft touch , how many should be allowed ? .

 

It's not just the matter of that Tony , they fail to see the main reason , we are a " soft touch " with the welfare state they are using a system they've never contributed to , an NHS they haven't contributed to. Yet if you challenge any aspect of this the racist card is played , it's not racism by any stretch of the imagination . I've no problem with genuine asylum seekers , but these are not by any stretch of the imagination genuine , because if that was the case they would go down the legal root .
