Training is a massive part of the success on the pitch on a Saturday, especially when our new manager has only had 3 days to work with the players.

Our current facilities are not good enough and needs addressing sooner rather than later.

We obviously wouldn't build new facilities on a piece of land that floods.

Richmond looked into training facilities down Apperley Bridge but it was knocked back because it flooded on occasions, the last time it happen and the team couldn't train down there was around 3/4 years ago, the present training facilities are more than ample, great if our owner was a serious football man with the club at heart but most accept he will not invest in new training facilities, hopefully he will pay for the pitch re-doing properly this time as we have no Rahic getting it done on the cheap.

One of the reason Mr Rhodes has to leave this football club. He won't take us forward.

So a person unwilling to drive a business forward won't be telling the owner to invest and excuses like @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler and yourself make will keep popping up. Mr Rupp has the money, he owns the club.

Problem is though is if the if the current owner isn't even to look at alternatives or options this why would the new owner? This is what people like you are failing to understand. Things cost money we know that but it's up to Rhodes, Rupp and others at the club to drive it forward. Other clubs are talking us over while we stand still and make excuses!

Instead of coming out with negative comments about cost, why doesn't the club come out with positive PR about the future? Don't want to upset the school? Don't see the point in Ryan Sparks role either if the club is just going to stand still and say the same old things.

For me I would rather an owner that cares about the club and if Mr Rupp doesn't then he needs to sell ASAP.

The truth is, we will never be able to move much further forward while we’re at the Apperley Bridge school fields. It simply doesn’t appeal to decent professionals as somewhere they’d wish to ply their trade week in week out.

As long as we’re using the school for training and smaller clubs are improving past us with their own training facilities, we aren’t going anywhere far unfortunately.

Us not having the money to do.it is a different argument to "it was okay 20 years ago so it'll be okay now"

That's a more valid point. We should be comparing ours with others around us and I'm not sure how they stack up. Comparing ours to Wimbledon from where they were in the premiership is ludicrous.

It's been a long standing issue with the board that they defend the training grounds when they were unacceptable. They're better now obviously but only because PP pushed for it but I doubt they're ideal.

Having their own / owning their own is a completely different statement.

Just like most people have their own home but don’t own their own homes.

It's the same, a lot of them have more than one purpose. I've had this debate on here before but what is it that you don't think our training ground doesn't offer that others do?

And I'm pretty sure where a player trains is one of the last things on the list when signing for a club..

Well it's a fact isn't it? If a players looking at a club to sign I can guarantee the clubs location, wage and level of the squad all trump the training facilities. What part of our setup restricts a player from improving now because as far as I'm aware everything needed is there and surely most of a players development comes from the coaching?

Absolutely not a fact. Referring back to my post, any decent player at a higher level would look at training facilities when deciding whether to make a move.

A school where kids are attending, or a facility solely for the club in question.. I think I know which i’d go for.

Besides, my original post which you responded to was referring to if we were to progress up the leagues then it would be a hindrance when trying to entice the better players, it has probably no real impact at this level.

I think we'll agree to disagree, last thing on the list for me. If a clubs offering me an extra grand a week but the facilities aren't quite as good I'd still take the money and I'd bet most players would. If you can tell me what facilities we have and the set up we have for training I'd take these thing seriously but you don't have a clue what the set up is between the school and the club so to try compare it to other club who you don't know their set ups is not great...

Is it a fact? I know that if I was a player the place I would be spending most of my time would be high up on my list.

Just like if I went for a normal job and the offices were a dump I wouldn't go.

I would hardly call it a dump when it’s shared with one of the most exclusive Schools in the area.

But that's partly my point, they aren't sub standard. If a club offers me an extra grand a week I'd go there!
