You are totally missing the point. It isn't about giving players lengthy contracts and not letting players leave - it's about having a proper plan in place around recruitment that works in our favour and doesn't leave us at risk of ending up with worse than what we've already got.

correct. those clubs with a good transfer strategy have plans in place where they can already see the players that are likely to move on to better things; e.g. Connor Wood and 12-18 months before they can envisage them leaving they are monitoring their possible replacement with 3 or 4 options being monitored at one time. this will never happen at City because there is no foresight or plan in place.

he has good access to what he needs to do his job - he'd never jeopardise that by actually asking the tough questions. hence why he got a bit touchy when Rahic was at the club.

 

Some hate any constructive feedback, seeing it instead as criticism of the club. Blaming Richmonds endeavours from 20 years ago was a weak way to pass the buck for the club current short comings yet the majority of our fan base lapped it up because they can't bare to question their club. Weak willed.

 

Exactly, and he's had months in lockdown when he should have been using his time to make a list of players he wants to target. I get that he wanted the chance to try and convince Vaughan to stay, but however confident he felt in his ability to do that, he must have known there was always a possibility he wouldn't be successful and he would need to have a 'plan b' in place for that particular scenario. That doesn't seem to have been the case however, and now he is left knocking on doors that aren't being answered and waiting by a phone that isn't ringing.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he was furloughed and unable to work
Anyone could see last January that Vaughan wouldn't return which makes it worse
The club bought Guthrie as Vaughans replacement (I kid you not)
We are waiting till the last minute to pick up players no one else wants with zero loyalty and don't have to pay wages till absolutely necessary
A last minute call to Grimsby wouldn't surprise me at all

You’ve told me every single possible thing that could go wrong. We might leave it to the last day and panic buy, we need an immediate replacement or are putting ourselves at risk, signings 2 strikers is no easy task or agents might try and fk us over, the search for Vaughan’s replacement is going well etc etc. My response to all of this is exactly what you’ve written in this post. Scout new players, have a plan in place and back the manager.
