We don't seem to have any particular targets in mind. It'll probably all boil down to a last minute flurry of activity, reviewing the options on Stuart's iPad, and discounting the ones with the more expensive loan deals. This isn't a criticism, given these belt tightening times. What's available in the salary cap is immaterial, it's what's left in the kitty. My expectations are low.

The fella from Boreham Wood. Hasn't really done much other than score goals in non league. Haven't we been down that path before? I'd suggest that it's not the fact he's on more money, it's the fact he's not proven at a higher level, that clubs aren't taking a punt. I think the days of taking a risk on unknown/unproven players are over, which is a shame as it's always nice to get a "Football Manager" moment, unearthing a hidden gem. Alas, Brunker et al have sort of burnt Julians fingers.

i agree. We should have had at least one striker in two weeks ago for me before the bolton game. Then if we start well and someone we really want came up we could reward McCall and push the boat out for him a bit. Surely the stage we are at now most of our main targets have gone?

 

Which seems bizarre when we've been happy to pay Sutton's wages all over the summer, even though he still has another 2 games to sit out before he can play for us.

 

Agreed, he isn't proven at higher league, but neither is the 17 year old from Palace.

 

Key point here being of course is that the 17 year old from palace wont cost us a penny.

He might do. We may have to pay a contribution or there may be clause that he comes for nowt but we have to pay for those games where he's not selected. Palace want the lad to have playing time so there might be a cash penalty if we don't play him.

 

As I wrote earlier, nothing to lose. I just hope the rumour is actually true, instead of some made up whisper, and we end up getting no one.

 

I dont think they can if im honest. Im guessing that as he is under 18 he will be classed as a youth loan or work experience loan. I think in them cases the loaning club as to pick up the tab

Not REALLY focusing on their development with such a ham-fisted idea - don't think any team would actually be that naive, and that's without discussing whether they CAN or not.

I know I wouldn't want a League Two side running a prospect into the ground, so not sure why it's even become a 'fear'?
