Yeah we would need a pacey CB, given Stubbs and Platt move in slow motion. I still think we will look for another LB even if Ridehalgh signs, if he extends Foulds will leave, if not Foulds will be back up.

I’ve just posted in the summer transfer thread. We do need an attacking left back option, especially to give us that wingback option. Matt Penney released by Ipswich and still only 25. Mal Benning out of contract at Port Vale.

The thing is Cook will always be able to find the net, no matter if his physical attributes start to fail him... if in 2.5 years he's only fit enough to bring on the last 20, and realistically by then you'd hope we are at a level where we have 2-3 forwards better than him even if he is in the same shape as now, then he's still going to be a goal threat for that last 20 mins

Completely agree Jon. We have just re-signd L2's most prolific goalscorer and let's not forget the eight crucial assists he made to other goalscorers in the side. Hughes and Hodges have taught an old dog alot of new tricks and his current all-round play is miles away from the Andy Cook of old. His pen on paper is a massive result for us. Think it also says much about the current culture at the club - he had quite a few other offers from L1 and L2 but is so keen to stay at VP.

Talking of Billy Sharp local lad still fit as a fiddle, knows where the net is, League Two would be a breeze ;).

I'm sure Fordy will portray this contract signing of L2's Golden Boot Winner as some kind of negative. Despite the fact that three L1 clubs were after him and Hughes and Hodges have taught an old dog alot of new tricks and transformed his all-round play as well as the goals. Go on Fordy! Give us your gloomy, boring worst.

Not likely to get much game time in the premier league, but it would be a massive drop for him to come to league 2.

Cook has always been a confidence player who needs to feel loved. That, plus the new sides to his game that Hughes and Hodges have worked on with him have made him so much more of an all-round player than the Andy Cook of old, and he knows it. He loves the Bradford City adulation and this is a match made in heaven. He'll get at least 20 again next season.

Yes it would be a big drop with regards the standard of football, but with his experience I don't think he'd have a problem finding the back of the net, and at 37 if he wants to play on any sort of regular basis then dropping down the leagues has to be an option, you'll remember the days of old pro's dropping down the leagues to play regular football, I'm sure you'll remember the likes of Len White played for Stockport County, both George Hannah and Ken Leek coming to City, .

Cook and Sharpe are the same kind of player - how would they gel up front? Think we already have the answer within the club - stop faffing around with Jamie Walker in forward midfield and play him upfront off Cook. Walker not only has a shot in him he makes defenders weep when he's allowed to run at them in the box.

I seem to recall an incident where some City fans abused him after his child died tragically young. Can't remember if this was at a game, or on social media, but I'm pretty confident it happened. And if that was me I'd definitely not entertain signing for a club where some of its supporters behaved like that towards me.

It was Barnsley fans wasn't it? Fairly big story at the time.

Don't think we played Sharpe until maybe 4 or 5 years after the tragic death. A stupid section of our fans may well have brought it up, but to be honest I can only ever remember the Barnsley incident.

Yes I remember it, I believe it was some d1ckhead in the kop, but I'm sure Sharp would recognise every club has its fair share of idiots amongst their fans.

There’s another on Y/Tube, to include every goal he scored this season.

A goal I noted this season, Tranmere away where he beat two centre backs in the air to power the header in, a goal Sir Bobby would have been proud of.

Or on one of the two anchor midfield roles.
