Cook was never going anywhere that's why we left it until the season was over before he signed.

 

Given the speed of this, I'd agree but with the Caveat that he was probably waiting for a couple of alternative offers to boost what we were offering. And rightly so.

I can't find a list of all time goal scorers that goes beyond those having scored 60, but would estimate he is already in the top 15 and given his career record (one in every 0.35 games) could easily overtake Hanson & Windass to finish his career in 3rd place assuming he plays in 100 plus games.

 

I think that list is league scorers - Cook is on 47* in the league for us(I think) so he needs 17 next season to hit top ten - that being said if he gets 30 league goals again it would put him joint 2nd…

I saw this in the Yorkshire Post. Is this stat correct? I find it hard to believe that in our 100+ year history we've never had a golden boot winner.

From my files. Here's the top of the all-time League goals list as it stood before this season. Cook was on 20, so now he's at 48 and slots in at 18th most League goals (in 89 starts + 17 subs).



With now 51 total career goals, Cook slots into 17th place, after Abbott with 52 and before Dolan with 49, but Abbott did it in 311+32 appearances and Dolan in 212+5. Cook is at 95+20 total appearances.

Andy Cooks agency replies regarding his new contract.

 

I think the 3 year deal is a happy compromise. We'll get to reduce the wage on what will have been demanded and Cook gets security of 3 more years as a pro. Be interesting to know if the NL club is Wrexham or not.

 

I'm damn sure there would be a number of clubs offering him 3 year terms

Yes, as a CH Cooke wasn't going to trouble the upper reaches of our scorers' lists, but those years as a CF helped him to his position -- two great seasons in 75 and 76, 22 and 17 league goals respectively. Daisy blew hot and cold...three seasons with poor returns (5, 4, 4) when he started in fewer than 30 matches per season, and three with very good returns (15, 17, 19) when he started 40+.

the article is correct but the way you have interpreted it is slightly incorrect.

we have had 1 golden boot winner previously but that was a joint award. windass around 04 was tied with a hull player.
