Defeat Tuesday night will make it very hard as you say, I'd think your right a decent run in till the end of the season just might give fans enough evidence we are improving under Alexander to renew next season.

 

Taking good form in to next season won't happen, most of the team will be out of contract, so I would expect to see a nearly a new side, next season.

Originally when the play offs were introduced I thought it a bit gimmicky but it certainly gives teams who would have little to play for a chance to save their season.

 

I have never liked the playoff's mate, we have been on both sides of it and something does not sit right with me, when a team in 7th and umpteen points behind, gains promotion over a team in 4th. Through what is basically a mini tournament. Would much rather have promoting teams straight off, 5 up and down from each division would be great and would have good team rotation between the leagues.
The playoff's in my eyes are just a money spinner for the EFL . You don't even get to keep your own gate receipts.

 

And can be a money spinner for the clubs as well certainly with regards merchandise, now wouldn't that be something 5 up 5 down can't see the Premier boys taking that on.

Smith, Odour,S Walker,Stubbs,Young,Cook,Kavannah,Richards,Gilliead,Pattison,Kelly, McDonald all still contracted to the club, hopefully so will Bobby Pointon.
I'd think we my offer Jamie Walker and Richie Smallwood 12 months contracts on reduced terms, I'm not sure we need to bring that many players in, I'd much prefer maybe 3/4 quality new signings.
I would hope Halliday will be offered a new contract, maybe go back to Norwich with an offer for Tomkinson if Norwich get into the Premier he wont be good enough.
I'd say that's more than decent start if they show what they are capable of from now until the end of the season.

 

Well the word going around is the Super duper European League is still not dead so who knows.

 

I've just looked up Cook's stats as people were quoting that was his 150 appearance for us:
In the league he's played 134 times but obviously not 90 mins in each match.
In those 134 games he's scored 60 goals in 10,141 minutes.
That works out at a goal every 169 mins which is better than a goal every other game (180 mins being 2 games of course).

Don't get me wrong, I'd get him off pens though!

Another couple of season on his contract to go , say 12 goals each at a conservative guess and another 4 or 5 this year, will take him to one of our all time leading goalscorers. Not bad for a fat boy.

 

I've got to disagree Andy, I think the playoffs are great. Keeps more teams and fans interested right to the end. The team that finishes 4th know at th start of the season that its only 3 get automatic, so 4th still gves them an unexpected chance at promotion. The thing that doesn't quite sit well with me is that winning the playoff final ismore exciting better than finshing first in the league

 

Is it? I'd be pretty excited if we went up as champions and would take it hands down over winning the playoffs.
