Colville hardly played through injury he showed enough when he did to show he could come good he scored some goals badly lacking from midfield last season. The only one I was a little surprised about was Devine but if Bowyer thinks he can do a job that’s fair enough for me. The reality of our situation is we can’t afford to have any more expensive players bench warming.

that's why people are going to have to lower their expectations of how we're going to do next season. we can't be expected to get promotion if the only back up options we can afford are players that'd struggle to get a game in the National League like Colville and Omari flipping Patrick.

And you're conveniently missing the point that they're on peanuts - Luca is only 19!!! You'd be the first to shout if we got shut and he went on to have a great career, it'd be the usual unambitious happy clapping stuff from you.

Really don't care how old he is.

I want us to compete. He isn't good enough.

He was signed as development prospect, just because he's played a few games doesn't mean he's earning a first team wage does it? Worth noting his contribution was far more than Josh Wrights this season as well but you still defend him!

By your logic if a 19 year old doesn't like look like a world beater at league 1/2 level we should get rid? With that short sightedness maybe you are the problem the club will never progress.

Cheers Dennis. Seems very weighted in the players favour though.

It certainly means they can play a longer game .. whilst their agent checks out who else might be interested!

Ok, I will make it simple for you

Your highlighted above has nothing what so ever to do with Man City having far more purchasing power that any other Premiership Club since Sheikh Mansour took over ?.

Since the Robinho shock signing on the transfer deadline day in September 2008, the club have been branded "the richest club in the world" by the media and the Robinho signing heralded a new era of spending for the club with Sheikh Mansour willing to invest in the club off the pitch and on it by signing new players.

Having spent in approximately £320m on transfers from the arrival of Sheikh Mansour in September 2008 to September 2010 it was reported that owner Sheikh Mansour had earmarked £500m for transfers - regardless of any revenue during that two-year period. The report highlighted the club's immense spending power, meaning as of September 2010 there was a surplus transfer budget of around £175m after the transfer window of summer 2010. Since September 2010 up to September 2011, approximately a further £100m has been spent, but with players being sold this is around £80 to 85m in net expenditure.

You quote yourself "The aim of a football team should be to fill you squad with the best players you can afford "maybe the likes or Anderson, Colville and Devine are just squad players and what we have left of the player budget will go on better quality players.

We should be going into every new season with optimism not lowering our expectation, that's one of the best things about a new season, I will be disappointed if we aren't around a play off place.

We won’t be alone though most other teams are in exactly the same position if not worse in league two. It’s about good management

Lets sign 20 players on 2 grand a week each, surely then people would be happy to see 18 grand a week sitting on the bench or at home playing with themselves.

Top quality squad, accept no less! Utter nonsense.

Doyle and Payne were our most prolific goalscorers last season - except for one other player who scored twice as many goals per minute as them: Luca Colville. I hope he gets a chance for some more first team appearaces next season. I don't know how good he will turn out but I think he deserves to be top of the list of young ones to get another chance.

What do you base your opinion that he isnt good enough?. We have barely seen him due to injuries to be able to form such an opinion, surely?. Think I will trust Bowyer on this one

Lets hope Bowyer improves then because it was no classic at the back end of last season.

I’ll tell you what is embarrassing. You writing complete fabrications for no apparent reason other than to be controversial.

Nobody, absolutely nobody is “creaming” themselves over Colville and certainly not comparing him to Lampard.

You should be ashamed of your post

    Again, they sort of weren’t.

Stop trying to be controversial for the sake of it. The fact that the only person agreeing with you is @Fordy117@Fordy117 should be the only thing you need to know about how daft your comments are...!

You do get realise that both Colville and Devine spent large amounts of last season on the treatment table? When fully fit, both were involved in the squad
