Anderson and Colville

I thought the same last year and the year before and it turned out the filler, in many cases, turned out to be the main players!!!

Agree Border, lets be honest there is going to be a real opportunity for some of the younger lads again this season and if they show the right attitude and commitment (unlike some of this seasons waste of spaces) the vast majority of the crowd will be right behind them. Key is going to be supplementing this with as much 'craft' as we can manage to afford

 

offering a contract to one of Devine, Anderson or Colville makes sense. Offering contracts to all 3 of them is a little odd. How many cheap, reserve central midfielders do we need?

 

It’s not guaranteed all 3 will accept though.

 

colville look very good at the start of the season remember he’s only a young player

 

Everyone that joined us last season seemed over weight and had a poor pre season though.

Saying that season before McCartan was like something out of Ghostbusters.

However, only player I can see why he got offered a contract for is Anderson because Bowyer clearly likes him for whatever reason.

 

There is definitely a player in there somewhere. He has plenty of experience for someone so young, and I for one will be fine if he signs back on. He did improve as he got fitter, and as Wetherby says, a good pre season and we should have a decent player for that level. My only concern is fans of other clubs seem to think he had a bit of an attitude problem

You cant. They have 1 month to accept the offer. After that the offer lapses.

 

All three suffered and were damaged by the poor previous managers and confidence which is so important must have been damaged, GB seems to know what he is doing and regards them worth pursuing with another season and he can improve them, The best we can do is back his judgement and back the players as well

I am choosing an arbitrary and random target of 4 54 on Friday as my deadline. If they haven't signed by then, I say deregister them both and retract their citizenship.

 

I didn't see anything in Anderson to offer him a contract.
Having said that, I remember Will Atkinson coming for a short period and looking awful and everyone was baffled that we offered him a contract. He turned out to be an important player for us and did well when called upon. So let's hope Bowyer see something we don't.

 

Wasn't Colville supposedly highly thought of at Huddersfield until he got released as not being Premiership quality? Seem to remember reading he had won awards as a young player with potential, or was that just O'Brien?

 

Now, now. Don’t be calling him shite. He didn’t have a great season but the club was in turmoil, we had a number of managers etc. Thought all players deserved another chance and that we should all just get behind them?

Whether that’s true or not, I don’t think it makes any difference. Wasn’t Joe Riley highly thought of at Man Utd?

 

Strange one Joe Riley. As you say, highly thought of at Man Utd, and Sheff Utd, after a brief spell there.

Signs for us and looked poor. Soon out of the picture altogether, forced to train with the youngsters under Hopkin, along with Wright, I believe.

Bowyer comes in saying everyone has a clean slate, wright gets his chance, but still Riley nowhere to be seen. Surely he isnt that bad?
