A lack of talent, confidence, or both? Doyle at least has scored in the past. But I think back to the Shrewsbury match, and the Doyle/Miller break that they managed to mess up. I would have expected someone signed to be a scorer to try the shot, but he chose to pass and Miller missed the sitter. Had the ball gone in the partnership would have been off to a good start. (I know the flag was up, so this is all a moot point.) Instead, Miller has continued missing and Doyle hasn't yet lived up to expectations.

It’s hard to say whether talented or not, due to lack of confidence in front of goal. Both of them appear to run into the right spaces, although I think they need to be closer so they can feed off each other. When I first saw Miller I thought he looked good, but since then he just backs off.

Very fair comments Simons, sorry I didn't see you, your pink carnation must have lost its' petals in the rain. Must admit after 5 minutes we thought the game had no chance of finishing, then thought it would be off at HT when there was another fierce downpour and the Ref would chicken and call it off from his dressing room. After that he was giving serious thought after we equalised, talking to the fourth official who had been getting Martin Drury in his ear. Quite amusing, Shots management were saying ok but then with us on top after the NKP goal they changed their tune.
But we know that pitch having played on it at Stamford Bridge and winning before Chelsea moved it for their U23s games.
Could we have won?, second half yes, for sure but they could have been ahead in the first 10 before they scored so draw is probably right.
One serious word. Thanks to the 176 who were there. A foul day, long journey, for most and noise in the second half, credit to you all from Julian, Alan Biggin and myself, hope you were all safe home.

 

Julian, Alan and you Roger? I take it Edin wasn’t there? Is he in the club on a daily basis at the moment or is he working from home?

 

Not sure who "he" is Mike but as far as I know both JR and ER were at VP every day last week. I think Edin was watching one of his sons playing rugby yesterday but Julian was in touch with him at HT and FT.

McGowan leaving there guy totally unmarked for goal yesterday. How many mistakes is that for him this season?

We've that worst defence in the league and it's clear.

Hopkin urgently needs to sign about 3 defenders. 2 CB's and a RB/LB and if he plays Chicken again over Wood then he needs his head testing.

Yep, those conditions are totally unacceptable to play any level of football on. The game certainly should not have gone ahead.

Doyle is totally shot in confidence terms, he could and should have converted 1 or 2 of those chances.

Defence continuing to show alarming generosity. At the very least Hopkin should be able to coach a solid defence. Basic defence is primarily about organisation and even limited platers should be capable of being organised with practice.

 

Shows a lot of that article is just copy and paste. Surely it should have said ex Bantam rather than ex Middlesbrough

When's the draw for the next round? Does it come before or after Tuesday?

In terms of actual contribution in the game is there really much difference currently between Doyle and Brunker ?
