And the reverse last season, also Swindon at VP, again in their favour? I think that was the one the ref later apologised for after admitting he didn’t even see it!
Halliday “ fouled” their man at the BFD End?…..

Can't disagree Hughes teams were so easy to read proven by teams certainly at Valley Parade.

I don't disagree with you that Hughes had his favourites, but I'm not sure Dion is a good example to illustrate your point because he doesn't appear to be fancied at bottom of the table Sutton either. Maybe Hughes made the right call about that, he can't have been wrong about everything.

For Dion see Danny Rowe, skill without the desire.......

you make a good point, but it does illustrate that performances on the training ground werent the primary factor towards team selection, which shows poorly on management

Id say better examples are the midfield conundrum we had last year, an unwillingess to change things from Gilliead an Smallwood
Bringing in Bola an never using him
    Jake Young
    an so on

You're allowed to have squad players.

You don't have to give them 20 games, you can have back up.

Why would he play Bola if he wasn't better than Ridehalgh? Why would he play Young if he wasn't better than Cook? Why would he play East if he wasn't better than Smallwood or Gilliead?

It's not good management to play players that are second best in their position just to keep them happy.

Bola's made one start this season in the cup. They got pumped 6-1. I doubt Rotherham will be playing him in the league just in case someone wonders about his man management.

Good shout Tony…We will never know , wasted talents for sure, and very disappointing in the end.

Dion may eventually find a club and manager that releases his talents……..We could add Young”’s career in a similar vein, however he seemed to have found his club?

As a football fan who never attained anything like an ability to play the game at any sort of decent level reading stuff like this with regards Dion and Danny make me angry for what ever their reasons, Danny saying he fell out of love for the game after getting released by Manchester United, having the ability in the first place to start at one of the biggest clubs in the world is a massive complement to your potential talent, he got himself an apprentice as a joiner and the rest is history he made his choice and I'd think even at none league level he was a top earner but so sad that with a little more professionalism both he and possibly Dion could have had a far better career within the game on his day Dion had the skills to turn his opponent inside out.

I agree with the theory of the post but then I'd reply with "Why would he sign Bola if he wasn't better than Ridehalgh"? Etc etc.

We certainly made some signings that contributed far too little and Hughes had to take at least partial responsibility for that.

Because he knew Foulds wasn't good enough and it was worth a cheap gamble bringing in a loan player as back up who might have been more competitive.

    j

Yet amazingly we could all see that yet a man who has managed at the highest level couldn't???????? Honestly mind numbing and it looks even worse that our rookie manager sussed it out within two days training

Except that Foulds had done reasonably well when Ridehalgh was injured and was certainly better than the little we saw of Bola. Very stupid decision to let a committed City player/lifelong fan (who’d let no one down) go and bring in an untried reserve who then barely played a game.

This is the Matty Foulds who can't get in the Harrogate Town team?

Yeah, again, he wasn't good enough. Maybe Harrogate paid a loan fee as it was the final six months of his contract? Perhaps we made a profit by playing Ridehalgh with Bola on the bench?

Either way, I won't be losing sleep over non league standard players.

Bola isn't here. Foulds isn't here. What's the problem?

There isn’t a problem. We now have Richards, who is (hopefully) better than either Ridehalgh or Foulds.
But we were discussing the decision, last season, to let Foulds leave and bring Bola in. I still believe that Foulds played ok for us when Rides was out and that it was poor decision to let him go at the time.

Foulds may or may not have been good enough but Bola looked worse that Foulds.

I also highly doubt that he was cheaper than Foulds, or certainly nothing that would make a difference to the budget.

It just seemed a strange one to me and has certain similarities to Jake Young leaving even though Foulds had a fair amount of game time.

Foulds told the club he wanted to leave. Yeh we brought in Bola, but Foulds wasn't prepared to fight for his shirt.

If Foulds wasn't from Bradford his name would never have been mentioned again.

Foulds disputed that version of events in a T&A interview recently.
