Odd that professionals think he’s an asset, yet some armchair pundits on here don't?

 

Thankfully the ref just guessed there was no contact, as from where he was he in relation to the incident, he would have had no idea whatsoever.

 

Oh be fair Kev. Up until the last two games Manny has been woeful. Now he is showing us what he is capable of and I am sure opinions will quickly change. I saw a real player in the first 7 minutes against Donny before that tackle and I think we are now seeing that player once again.

No coincidence that this has happened since MH has gone.

It’s no different to the fans who are saying Pointon is going to be the clubs next Blake based on 4 starts and 1 goal.

The praise is always a lot higher than they should be and the criticism of certain players is always way more than it really should be.

Maybe it was there all the time, obviously psychologically the break will take time to get over, but if used properly , as you say , then an asset. I never understood the severe criticism he was getting , as I often look at the big picture.

I said a few days ago , he’s always got a smile on his face and has to be an asset in the dressing room. Guess what …KM and and another player in an interview have said exactly the same since..I have seen snippets of it in the game day videos. Managers need those players around the squad.

The reaction at times has been way, way over the top. Remember , he’s a L2 professional.

If he can come on as sub and change a game, what is not to like?

Its been a well known hypothesis that Hughes had the breaks on the team, it showed in the performances. All this fannying about last season, playing for draws is what fecked our season up

Another well known hypothesis that Hughes had his favourites. I cant remember who said but I remember last season, it was said that "You see Perriera smashing it in training, but he never gets a look in during games"

Hughes has his favourites, he'd stick to them. He wouldn't change it up or risk it when he needed to. Ultimately with a bloated squad like ours, thats gonna lead to problems

 

Just a quicky I was watching a Pod cast called Fore Four 2 they were interviewing Owen Couple who said Robbie Blake had the potential to be the best player he ever worked with, I remember the video where Paul Jewell had a right go at him during his half time talk, saying very similar, he needed to get more involved in the game and not sulk, unfortunately that seemed to be a very big downside to Robbie's game.

 

I remember that clip. “Look at you. You’re effing sulking” ha ha.

We nearly offloaded him to Blackburn at one point. He was valued around £2.5m at the time.

I remember Blake also had to battle his weight a bit in his time here.

what a player he was though, twisting his hands as he turned defenders inside and out. A little magician and in the same team as Beags too. Great memories!

was glad Blake smashed it for Burnley and kicked on later in his career as he had so much talent

 

McDonald is doing very well but if we do keep him on I think we need to have an experienced assistant or director of football to support him, Jags anyone?

Just seen a replay from behind our goal. There MIGHT have been contact outside the area but the womble actually ran across Lewis. Once he got into the area, he threw himself down and the wombles themselves didn't protest too much.

 

They didn’t protest at all , I was surprised in real time, which then convinced me it was a “ dive” . If so, the ref must have thought so too…why no booking?

 

I've posted this comment before from Phil Parkinson at training the Friday before the Reading home game in the FA Cup, he shouted to Jimmy Hanson if you feel any contacted in the box ffs go down, at times Jimmy was too honest for his own good.
