You can tell how bad our home form is if we are talking about Harrogate being one of the best performances. Apart from the goal we created next to nothing. It was a welcome three points but it was a poor game to watch.

 

Why are people obsessed with a CF leading the line? We were close to going 3rd in the table with Cook up top. Now we could drop to 12th with Oliver up top. Not a ringing endorsement of your argument is it?

 

Probably very similar in points returned per match. The point is Cook has been made the scapegoat by Hughes and dropp

I think Cook gets a rough deal from Ref's, he gets battered from pillar to post with very little given his way, but as soon as he touches a centre half they go down , scream out and are awarded a free kick, call it dark arts if you will.
The Harrogate game we scored within the first minute , the rest of the game was pretty bland, the Salford game was very open , we could quite easily have drawn or lost. We have not dominated a single game at home all season, even the Stevenage match that we won 3-0 was strange , and never deserving of that margin of victory. Cook is not the problem.
The delivery to the strikers on the whole is shocking, generally under or over hit. the one that was on the money yesterday, where Vadaine came through unmarked, his attempt was half arsed, i could have done better and i am 5 ft 10 and fast approaching 60 years old.

I know which one i would be playing, and the more you think about it , complete madness to offer a three year contract to a striker with an average of 6.6 goals per season.

 

I actually think that Cook to get that many goals in a team that creates very little is amazing .......... no doubt he will play next week he will get dominated and no doubt will used as a scapegoat but like I’ve said all season it doesn’t matter whose up there it’s the system and until that’s sorted then this continue to go on .............

 

Many of Cooks goals were non league Oliver was scoring in the league above the last two season

 

It feels like you're looking for matches that fit the argument you're trying to make.

What about the Stevenage match? Newport even if you're looking for good home performances.

 

It was much better than we had been producing and against an inform team. Before those two home results wins were rarer than rocking horse dung

 

I think Oliver is ok but my issue is to offer a striker a 3 year deal and not use him in the right way ............ there are things with Hughes that are just baffling ...........if we at the start of the season where to pay the passing game then surly signing a battering ram on a 3 year deal was just barmy

 

Oliver scored 20 in the season before last and 11 last year for Gillingham and 14 in 2 seasons at York , 11 for lincoln ,non league i believe.
Take those stats out and his career stats are shocking,
You keep trying to defend a guy, that has had 1 good season at football league level

 

The result was but the performance wasn't. I thought a struggling Harrogate side actually outperformed us in certain areas of the field, namely the problematic midfield. Its easily fixable, just bring in that box to box midfielder that petty much everyone wants to see us get.

 

We were unlucky not to beat Swindon , one of the most stupid refs decisions to award a penalty in stoppage time, which cost us 2 points and which the refs panel have since sent an apology. Thanks!!
One thing i picked up on, is how slow our players are to react after Lewis saved the above and the Rochdale penalty save.
Get there first ,clear the ball, different results , possibly an extra 5 points and the league table looks strikingly different.

I sure I remember him from Wembley play off? The only reason he was brought in by Parky because I don’t rate him whatsoever.

 

The problem is Andy, Cookie missed three easier chances in his last game , that’s why he was dropped/ rested. It’s a conundrum for sure!

 

From the three sides visible from the Tv images it looks like an afterthought surrounded on all sides by towering blocks of , no doubt expensive, flats. Is it?

 

For me this sums up perfectly what i termed the 'apathy' of some of the fans. For all the quality we apparently have we never really seem to dominate a game or come away thinking that one of these days we will really hammer someone. Even the 3-0 against Stevenage never felt like a 3-0.
