You are not wrong, most people just sit chatting like they are in a cafe catching up not at a football match but hardly surprising when the football is so dull!!!!

 

It would be nice to just hear from our CEO as a follow up to the forum aknowledging that things need to improve

and till Christmas so he has had a full pre season

 

I only want to hear from him if it’s a statement saying the club would like to thank Dreary Derek for everything he has done *cough nothing, but feel the time is right to part company so the fans cans possibly stay awake for the remaining games of the season. Thanks

I'd love to know what the atmosphere in the dressing room is like under Adams. And what the players actually think of him, his training methodology and the style of football he asks them to play.

From afar (and I'm about as far from being ITK these days as it's possible to be) I get the impression that it doesn't look like a lot of fun to play for him. Players must wonder after they've been beaten (again) if it's their turn to be singled out for criticism in the media that week. I'm all for holding players responsible if their performance has been substandard. But I don't agree with publically shaming them, that strikes me as being particularly counterproductive. I much prefer managers who keep it behind closed doors and take the blame on their own shoulders in front of the media. You'd always hear about Fergie's hairdryer treatment in the dressing room, but I can't recall him every publically criticising a player.

Exactly this. Not many left who want him here it seems and even those that do are justifying keeping him for financial reasons and little else.

 

If Adams is still here when next seasons season ticket prices are announced, the number of renewals will fall.
I'll renew out of loyalty to the club, but I know a few who are sayng they won't.
Surely Sparks and Rupp realise this

 

Both performances and results are going to have to improve dramatically over the last few months of this season, for season ticket sales to approach the numbers sold last summer I expect. I know that a consistently winning team will make up for quite a lot of deficiencies in raw entertainment value. But, at the moment I think plenty won't fancy spending every other Saturday afternoon in BD8 even if the team does start winning more frequently. It's just such a depressing style of football on offer that people aren't going to pay even that comparatively small amount of cash to be bored rigid on a Saturday afternoon. Factor in the upcoming massive increases in household bills we'll all be paying and even a couple of hundred quid to watch football could be more than they're willing to spend on a product that bores the arse off them

I do wonder if the atmosphere turns even more toxic, will Sparks be spooked into pulling the trigger? From memory, even Bowyer's brand of football was more entertaining than what we're currently being subjected to and JR acted relatively quickly (faster than I thought he would) in bringing Bowyer's term to a close. The problem is, Sparks has put all his chips on Adams being successful (and to be fair to him, his previous record was fairly impressive). But, for whatever reason it's definitely not working. I'd love to know just who was consulted before Sparks decided on Adams being the one? Because it can't have been a trade secret that his style of football left a lot to be desired and his personality has obviously always been blatantly dour, even on a good day. If the support isn't totally anti Adams just yet, I do think it's reaching that tipping point. Where there'll be nothing he can say or do that will improve people's opinion of him.

It's worrying, as I can foresee a scenario that sees the club going into a terminal decline. A lack of ST sales meaning a vastly reduced budget and another failing manager overseeing a club struggling to retain its league status. For all the words coming out of the club concerning Rupp being a responsible custodian. Would he be prepared to put his hand in his pocket to keep the club from going under, or would he just think that he was throwing good money after bad?

 

How can it be an excuse when all the "knowledgeable" contributors on here also think the problems at Valley Parade run deeper than just the manager?

 

Whenever Adams has left a club there seems to have been a collective sigh of relief from all concerned. I think that speaks volumes.

More bizarre comments from Adams in the T&A. Today he’s commenting on the lack of support he gets at the club.

“You get very little support from round about you. That’s why you’re the leader, the manager of the organisation because you’re the strongest man."

This, along with his post-match comments on Saturday, which almost dared the board to fire him, by claiming it would be stupid and immature to change manager, surely point to a manager who knows he wants out and is waiting to be fired to get his payoff?

In 29 years of visiting VP I cannot ever remember a manager baiting the board in public like this…….and getting away with it!

I think there is truth in what he says regarding support, as I put to Faithful about half an hour ago in another thread. We have been a shambles off the field for years, 10 manager, countless players in the last 4 years all failed. It’s not the 80’s anymore a club needs an infrastructure, that’s why the likes of Brentford have thrived.

I do think he actually wants the sack however, he’s probably come in seen the mess for himself and thinks it’s not worth it. I don’t think he’s the only manager who’s done it either, Bowyer is another, started reasonably well and collapsed. McCall said he deserved a medal for putting up with Rahic so long. Grayson more or less called us tinpot. Our only use as a club is a nice payday and payout when it inevitably goes tits up.
