Wasn’t Waddle 35 when he signed for us?

To be totally honest, I don’t have a clue how Clayton will fit into the team, whether his legs have gone or if he can get goals for us.

As far as I am concerned, the jury needs to get some more evidence.

So perhaps after 6 games I will be able to give an informed opinion.

I’m afraid both our memories are not quite correct . Karl Henry played his last league game for us in a 4-0 defeat at Luton and took no part in our mini revival when we beat Walsall, Scunthorpe,Rochdale and Accrington which proved to be a false dawn for the team. However my man Jim O’Brien didn’t contribute much in those games either apart from odd sub appearance, although he played in the 4-0 win at Rochdale but was then unfit for win against Accrington. In all O’Brien made 11 appearances.

Thats not my concern. My concern is we need a CM and we have brought in a 34 year old who wasnt wanted by Doncaster.

    Id like promotion.

Why are you comparing Waddle to Clayton? Ludicrous.

wasn’t wanted because he didn’t fit the system deployed by the new Doncaster manager. In the same sense that Cook wasn’t wanted by Mansfield, or that Walker wasn’t wanted by Hearts, for the same reason

Waddle was a class act even at the age he was when he joined us there were Premier league clubs willing to pay money for him.

It all comes down to common sense. If you are going to buy or loan in a player, play to their strengths. From what i’ve read, Clayton’s main attributes are his professionalism, his leadership skills, an his ability on the ball. Quite a few Doncaster fans have stated that he was a good influence on the team and a good character to have in the dressing room. It is the type of player we need. A case in point being that we have yet to recover and win from a losing position this season. Seems to suggest there is a lack of leaders in the team to rally the troops when things aren’t going our way.

We also have not replaced Watt from the summer. Someone who can get the ball an spray it across the pitch, an get it to the feet of our attacking players before 2 defenders man up on them. We thought that player would be Smallwood but that’s not the case. Clayton is a similar kind of player to Watt, an if Hughes can provide a balance in that midfield, Clayton can be a success

Im not saying that its an amazing signing, ideally a box-to-box midfielder would of been more suitable. But its not as bad of a signing as being made out to be by some. We need to stop writing players off before they have even kicked a ball for us.

He said he hopes 'this place catches fire', referring to what good performances and wins going into the back end of the season would do to morale.
Unfortunate but quite clearly meaning something else.

I suppose your right. But then again, Lavery an Guthrie never spent a single minute in League One. Clayton was a mainstay in a Middlesborough team that spent the majority of its time in the Championship and a season in the Premier League

He was dropped as soon as schofield took over. For his first game. That says more about the manager than the player. Ask yourself how good was schofield as a manager at Huddersfield. Answer. Quite shite. How good has he been at Donny. Answer so far, quite shite.
