Public Health England figures suggest that 22,000 people died from flu in England alone in 2018. Current rates of death from covid suggest 5,000 in the next year with SAGE'S worst case modelling suggesting 16,600.

Would flu stop us from attending matches ? No, course it wouldn't.

We have to stop running scared of covid, take reasonable precautions, and get on with life or we will end up with suicide deaths exceeding covid deaths.

To be fair, Boris is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I wouldn't envy any PM in this current climate.

We’ve seen and heard more from Ryan Sparks in 8 weeks, than we did from Rhodes in 15 years. How refreshing that the club is again engaging with its fans and looking at how to take us forward in a modestly ambitious fashion.

Unvaccinated people over 40 should not be holding everyone else to ransom.
It’s their choice to be excluded.

Personally I kind of think football shouldn't let fans back in this season. Seems massively unfair for some clubs to get fans in the ground for the last few rounds. Let fans back in for the playoffs where it will be fair and start fresh from next season

People getting used to watching on the tv/ifollow perhaps.

Personally I cannot wait to step foot back in Valley Parade again. Be interesting to see how many fans will want to attend the pre season friendlies

I was a bit unsure regarding going back to VP.
Wasn’t keen on being told what time I could get in.
When I could leave.Go to loo etc but after seeing the fans at the cup final and the games this week it’s put a completely different perspective on the whole attendance thing.Watched most games on ifollow(work permitting) but I now realise how much I’ve missed seeing live football.
Can’t wait to get back to the whole match day routine
again.Hopefully the stuff on the pitch makes it an ever more enjoyable experience.Lots of work for Ryan and the new manager to do admittedly but that’s what they signed up for.
An interesting couple of months in store.

We will have to agree to disagree. Time to open up the economy now and start to live with this. We aren't going to eradicate it do cant put the world on hold forever. We lived through the blitz (or at least @Bronco@Bronco did) so we have to live through this.

Soz broncs, only joking. I know you are a post war baby boomer really.

I posted weeks ago I'm fully jabbed up and ready to go if the government allow fans back in to grounds in any decent numbers, the ones who feel vulnerable need to stay away and allow others to make their own lifestyle decisions.

There were numerous things the club did, all from the marketing genius that was the late Peter Deakin. I think Rugby had the advantage that generally it is has more of a family feel to the supporter side, something that is changing in football. The switch to summer rugby was also a factor, i used to watch Northern through winter and you wouldn't get me there early for no one in that weather. Add the fact that the marekting change to something modern and a winning side and you had the ingredients to make it work. At the beginning most clubs struggled to embrace the concept. Entetainment wise it was the usual bouncy castles, acts and musicians on the pitch, marquees and beer tents etc, perfect for when the sun is shining.
The trick is making people believe they want to be there for a couple of hours before kick off, in Europe this is the norm, i've been to games in Poland and Germany where fans get there very early, its part of the infrastructure of their game. In the UK it isn't, even when we're playing really well theres still a sizeable section of the crowd only make their way into the ground with 5 to 10 minutes before kick off. Rugby is generally now very good with the match day experience both in league and union, Sparks with his rugby league background understands this one of the few avenues you have to raise club turnover, and with season tickets stupidly cheap there is expendable income amongst the fans to be had.

I’m more concerned about that donut Boris not ruling out local lockdowns again and the delay of the 21st of June freedom

I'm fully jabbed up from Sunday. Bring on normality and, sorry, but if you've been offered a jab but not taken it, you can sod off with calls to isolate etc.

Heard all this before though and then all gets pulled away.

I don't believe Boris until it all happens and happens for months.

Everyone needs to remember that the government will not want to be held responsible for any industry,so will give hope hence this roadmap.

The roadmap is government politics rubbish.
