Same outfield team as I picked, but I went for Walsh in goal.
What a bloody amazing team that would have been.
I think I'd have Andy O'Brien on the bench in place of Dreyer, because he could cover CB, or DCM if we wanted to shut up shop.
I'd have Palin instead of Kennedy, because he might produce a spark of magic to change a game.
And Windass or Watson would be on the bench ahead of Futcher.
    Lawrence, obviously.

Incredibly lucky to be 16 during that season. Turning up at VP every week knowing we would win. I idolised Robbie Blake to the point of trying to copy him in every way.

Tommo got the sentimentality vote. My favourite ever keeper so like Goddard, he was always getting my vote. Can't argue with Walsh though, superb keeper and one of the best I've seen down at VP.

I went for Dreyer because he could also play full back and had played in midfield for us. I just thought his versatility edged it over OB.

Palin was in my first draft but I forgot Lawrence. Obviously had to get him back in so it was a toss up between the two mids but I wouldn't honestly argue with either.

Windass on the bench, maybe, but probably not Watson. He didn't play enough games for me and similarly with Windass in the promotion year. That's the reason I went with Ronnie.

I'd have Palin and Lawrence on the bench and lose Kennedy.
Also, if you wanted to bring an extra striker on to chase a game then I reckon Flash or Deano would be more likely to grab you a goal than Futcher.

I think you're doing a disservice to Futcher there. Comparing the 3 Futcher has the best goal return and wasn't far off 1 in every 2 games during his peak years in

    1985–1987 Oldham Athletic 65 (30)
    1987–1988 Bradford City 42 (18)
    1988–1990 Port Vale 52 (20)
    1990–1991 Burnley 57 (25)

    Futcher 624 (253)
    Windass 634 (198)
    Watson 225 (58)

The caveat for Deano though might be that Windass played a fair few games in a deeper role or even centre mid.

Futcher was a decent striker, although i never forgave him for missing the chance against Leeds in front of the kop.

Bloody great player though. Sublime close control and knew where the net was. I'm convinced he'd have played for England if he'd had any pace.
