25 Year 'Season Tickets' (Now with Suites Poll)

I'm not angry at all.

When you got your money back that should have been a refund for you and the end of the ticket. You've pillaged half price season tickets and free suite upgrades ever since.

 

If you have been refunded then you had your money back so you haven’t actually paid for the 25yr season ticket. So taking the upgrade etc is you taking things from the club

 

The club didn’t pay the refund the credit card companies did. The club haven’t lost out whatsoever.

 

Yes they have. You have had a discounted season ticket for years, on the basis that you paid a lump sum upfront. But you got that lump sum refunded, so you've been getting (even) cheap(er) STs on a false premise. That discount is money lost to the club every year, that you would have otherwise paid.

I'm not saying I blame you. Most people would choose to pay a lower sum if offered that option. But to say that the club haven't lost out is simply wrong.

 

What about if you paid by direct debit every month but then cancelled the direct debit after the club went into admin?

You are accepting things that you haven’t paid for. The current club are losing out because of it. It was done as a gesture to those fans that had lost out. If you got a refund you haven’t lost out.

People can cancel a direct debit any time they like and considering the company they set up the agreement with didn't exist anymore and they already had the product in the shape of a silver 25 year booklet, who exactly was going to chase them?

 

The direct debit option was through a separate finance company nothing to do with the club. That's the way I got it. I think it was £3000 overall that way. You owed the finance company, not City.

I know of people that were advised to and did cancel their DD's after the first admin and there was no comeback for the remainder.

If I'd had that advice I'd have stopped paying!

 

I'm assuming the debt was to the football club and the company providing the finance was covered by the administration process.

Either way, direct debits were cancelled and no further action was taken.

 

I presumed the opposite. The finance company had paid City up front on my behalf and I was therefore paying them back.

That's a separate issue though. We're talking about getting very well discounted season tickets after not paying it all off or being refunded. I didn't realise it was so widespread. The club have made goodwill gestures to people who have behaved in an underhand way in my opinion, they ought to be ashamed of themselves. They want to have their cake and eat it.

No wonder people have such a low opinion of the 25 year lot.

 

So why weren't people chased for the money after cancelling direct debits?

Can you explain that to me?
