Might just be an agreement between two clubs with a bit more cash, or the L1 mentality of some big clubs that the energy price rise doesn't concern them too much, but Portsmouth vs Wycombe set for Saturday Dec 3rd has been moved to the Friday night before hand. Moved because England could potentially have a world cup game on that Saturday at 3pm.

The runner up in Englands group, which given how they play lately could well be us, would play the winner of Group A, likely the Netherlands at 3pm that day. Wonder if a lot of teams might look to move their game that Saturday to maybe midday Saturday or Sunday? If we win the group, we would play at 7pm on the Sunday.

    Again thinking through the implications.

There are a number of children who have separated parents. They live with one parent and see the other, often on a Saturday morning. So children who are Supporters, could be put in a predicament, should I see my parent or go to City!

In some cases where there is dispute between separated parents, a Court Contact Order can specify the time of sessions. Parents who are unhappy with the arrangements can use any issues (they left early….they are trying to change the times to fit their football in) to alter/reduce Contact time.

The more you look at this proposed change the more issues you can see arising.

Maybe, those like @Bronco@Bronco who say it does effect me need to think about the fans!

This decision shouldn't be about the football club. It should be all about the fans and we need to stand together.

Not to mention all the staff that have signed a contract and base their working hours around a 15:00 kick off. Hard enough to find people to fill positions these days, so if a lot leave because they can’t work for a 1pm kick off, then that’s new staff that need to be found. Police, Stewards, Traffic enforcement, all work around the age old 3pm kick off. Pubs and cafes need to change their rota too.
It’s a huge behind the scenes change, for something that could be addressed by the Government nationally. Don’t football clubs work with fixed priced electricity contracts? They certainly should!

Yes. But Parents and Children who support Bradford City have not experienced ’alterations’ in times.

When arrangements for Contact were made, most responsible people factor in things like football (and other) regular times, when they commit to agreements.

Can you provide a substantive list (with links) which proves your assertion that in ‘nearly every game’, times are altered.

I would suggest that it is very few!

No, they don’t and if they do it’s for TV games.

The guy who drove us to LBA recently is a die hard Leeds fan, missed 4 games (H&A) in ten years, and he said he hates the PL because it plays havoc with KO times and his work pattern.

Personally I don’t care re kick off time on Saturday, but I can see how it can severely affect others. I was in the same boat years ago. In solidarity, I voted NO!

Likely know by this time tomorrow what the EFLs decision is. If they leave it up to the clubs like they have been, i reckon more often than not we could be playing at 1pm unless the travelling team were against it. Every team we play at VP in that spell is within 2 hours apart from Carlisle and Barrow who are just over, although the Barrow team meet and set off from their training ground in Manchester for away games. All possible to travel within the morning which might sway some away teams to have the earlier game.

Charlton supporters board put out a poll asking fans to take part, with only 27% opposed to 1pm KOs. Some fan bases will be all for, some against.

All this stick together crap makes me laugh. Since when have you ever been bothered if any City fans have had trouble attending a game due to the kick off time eg a re arranged game due to postponment? When was the last time you were outraged about that?

I'm waiting for Ryan to suggest midweek games should kick off at 1am, so we can take advantage of cheap overnight electricity.

And I'll cheerfully counter with "get out!" 1300 kickoffs mean 0800 starts here -- a time when all us owls are still sleeping! (Owls of the world unite! Reject lark-centredness!)

But I didn't vote "no" just for selfish reasons... As many have pointed out, such a change should not be made midseason, when people (whether supporters or staff) have planned their lives around kickoffs at 1500. If it is to be done, it should only start next season.

They really did not leave much space for comments, did they.

If energy usage and costs are going to be a continuing concern, then perhaps the tradition of football being an Autumn-Winter-Spring sport should be examined. Replacing Winter by Summer wouldn't be problem-free, but might still be worth considering.

There is an article in the Athletic https://theathletic.com/3633307/2022/09/28/cost-of-living-efl-national-league/ which bands about the figure of £300 per hour for floodlights. If it is £600 per game for seven matches, then the potential saving of moving the games would be £4,200. That is the equivalent of 30 spectators paying the early bird price of £20 entry.
The club has not put out any comparative figures to justify the move. In legal terms the clubs position is unsubstantiated ‘what if’.
