There's another rookie coach in the division above us who also has 3 points after his first three games in charge. I wonder if Derby fans are calling for him to be sacked so early in the season or if they are prepared to give him time?

"The performance today and last week against Leeds were different but ended with the same result ...defeat...if fans can look ahead to next season with a view that Frank will be wiser and better for a season in the championship getting to know players and the division it will help ...but......

what happens is and I’m guilty of it as are most fans we cannot see beyond what’s actually happening right now and at this moment in time we are making errors with new players and a management team cutting there teeth in an unrelenting division where everyone can see the promised land of the premiership and the so called glories it can bring....

Im the same I want it now I’ve beem to nearly every game and travelled the country but I want it now but reality is we have got to be both realistic and patient ....Frank may not be right for us he may be perfect who knows but what is clear is we will not know the answer to that now or in the next few weeks ....if we can be positive and look to next season without writing of this season ( or what’s the point in going I hear fans saying ) we will progress

why??? Because FL is intelligent and will learn but also he’s a winner and it’s a journey

get behind Frank through thick and thin and let’s see where it takes us ....but criticising after 3 games as a rookie manager is not supporting the long term project ....Just give it time ...Frank will make mistakes ...but he is a winner and a hard worker and you could see what it means to Jon after the reading winner ....keep the faith with Frank "

Reminds me of the West Ham fans forum where they were giving a young Frank constant crap about not being good enough, and uncle ‘arry had to step in to put them to rights. That’s what Collins needs from Edin right now - someone to stick their neck on the line, put their faith in him and assume any responsibility for shortcomings so that Collins can get on with his job. But from as far as I can see Edin’s been fairly quiet as late.

 

So a chairman leaning over to speak to a coach means he’s picking the team ? He could just as easily have been asking if he wanted a pie or sacking him.

 

You need treatment if you think that half this division wouldn’t have snapped up Doyle or scannell. They are playing crap because of the tactics and would thrive under other coaches

Alternatives

1. They sell up to a fan owned consortium
2. They sell up to the Gibb/Tordoff consortium
3. They put the club on the market and await interest
4. They retain ownership but stop trying to assert their ‘German model’. Appoint a proven MANAGER, and back him as much as possible. Scrap the development team, put the cost toward the first team budget and If youth integration is a philosophy, focus on buying fewer but better players that can compete straight away for a first team slot

 

Maybe the " German " way will succeed next year in Div 2 ? . If i think we are shite i will say it . The fans saying give them time are deluded, has anyone honestly seen anything to be positive about . A lucky away win and 2 batterings in the league not forgetting getting knocked out of a cup by the worst club in the EFL .

We can't afford to drop to L2 for lots of reasons but unless things change drastically we will be pretty close
Ok I see that we want to change a winning formula (but why)
Early days yet only 3games (seen nothing to think things will pick up)
No experience in the team or management (all got moved on)
Turned away experienced managers (in favour of someone barely cut his teeth at this level)
Drop in season ticket sales (poor performances on the pitch)
Hand on heart can anyone say the futures brighter now than it was 3 seasons ago
Am getting depressed now

To be fair to Stefan he has funded the recent closed season signings, unlike Edin he has very little interest in football, he just wants a return on his investment.
I dont think he will be happy with the way things have started and as you say being the minor share holder Edin is no more than an employee, there may come a time in the future Stefan wants out but getting a return on his original investment might be hard to achieve.

You cannot compare Frank Lampard with Mikey Collins ones a World Class England International Midfielder multi x decorated (in medals & trophies terms ) at Club level; with a rich "family history" in the Game and the other is a Lower League journeyman Midfielder; who scored a goal for T'hudders in the Cup at Chelsea and won next to nowt in his career and was arrogant enough to think he would manage our club !

 

Well said as an ENGLISH footballer Lampard will obviously be a great manager.

 

So you are arguing someone new to football management that has had a glittering career should be given more time and more respect than someone whose playing career hasn't hit the same heights of success? Why is that when there are plenty of examples of ex players who have been at the top of their game as players but have failed miserably as managers, and plenty of very successful managers who were bang average as players?

 

I think you’re all missing the point about Lampard and Collins comparisons. Lampard will have the respect of the players and will be a figure of awe the career he has had. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure City players are already losing interest in Collins.
