Every match that is postponed (other than for international call ups) is automatically investigated by the EFL, normally these investigations will be quick and a formality. Clubs just have to show that they've taken all reasonable precautions to get the game on which is normally easy to prove. The EFL also get reports every match from the referee about the pitch which is fed back to the clubs. If a referee was a report an issue with an area of the pitch and the club did nothing about it then the next match was postponed for that area then they would be in trouble, that will be why we've put some small covers on the main problem areas near the TL Dallas Stand.

Currently the only stipulated piece of pitch protection equipment is that each club must have undersoil heating and/or frost covers.

Would it be wise to not have any pre season games played at VP this summer?

Why, please explain the logic in that statement. The pitch was good and getting high marks up to and including Boxing Day v. Morecambe.

To be fair WW and BCB. kadima might already have irons in the fire for a mini-tour of Europe or the States, just to save our field.

Isn't there one type of artificial turf that's allowed, a mixture of some kind.

Commented on this several times. Desso which is a mixture of real grass and some fibres, most if not all PL clubs have it, several Championship and the odd other such as Tranmere which I believe may have been part financed as one of the Liverpool clubs plays games there.
Very expensive to install and maintain, anything between £800k and £1 mil although there is a cheaper version, just, at around £700k I believe.

This won’t have any effect on preventing water logging and the capability of drainage Rog , just protects the “ green” stuff a bit better?

Is there a version available for £3.87, a Mars bar and half a pack of Jaffa cakes?

That's the one for us if so.

I was only asking the question Roger.

I saw that in the Supporters Board Meeting Minutes that works will be taking place over the summer for the pitch, which got me thinking would be it better if they knew they didn’t have a pre season fixture to have everything completed by.

If the answer to my question is no then why not simply say that and maybe give some context as to why it wouldn’t be beneficial?

If we didn’t have pre-season games at VP, less money!

We might have less season ticket holders this year, but as Sparks says ‘what will be will be’.

I’m not privy to the figures but the cost of having a match held at VP vs gate receipts for a pre season friendly? Would we lose out on that much money if any at all?

Also, I must add, I am not saying I don’t want any pre season friendlies at VP, just asking questions!

Home pre-season games are nearly always the back end of pre-season, this pre-season the pitch work will be able to be commenced much earlier than last year and any issues with drainage can be worked on. if we are in the position where a pre-season game 1 or 2 weeks before the season is going to cause the pitch issues then we are in trouble. as long as the work goes without any issues there's no reason why we can't have our pitch back to the standards it's been over the last 3 or 4 years since the major work was done.

Also from a practicality point of view for the team it's much harder to play against higher level teams if you don't want to play at home and it takes away the chance for the players to get used to the new pitch or for the new players to get used to the matchday set up around the ground.

It’s a good point not sure how much it costs to put on a match but we normally charge a £10 I think.

I don’t agree with Sparks laissez faire attitude. You market your business as we have done previously no matter how hard it is, you don’t just throw your hands in the air and give up. That statement from him is the reason he shouldn’t be here. He has given up and can’t be bothered.

Thank you for that Birky Bantam!

Do you have any details on the drainage works that are taking place over the summer?

All I know is what was put in the supporters board minutes, presume it will involve standard maintenance of it and checking there's no leaks or blockages.
