Well l guess the subject of the pitch merit’s its own thread.

There was substantial work undertaken in 2018, just under 6 years ago. https://www.bradfordcityafc.com/news/2018/may/pitch-update---were-fully-drained/

Yet the problems with the turf, drainage/flooding and frost persists.

What can the club do, to make it better? One of the first issues must be that City do not own the stadium. The lease expires in the near future. Would it be wise to spend a substantial sum on the pitch. Does the landlord bear any responsibility for the infrastructure? Perhaps @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler can shed some light.

Talk about 4 or 5G pitches is not practical, as the EFL regulations do not allow them!

Undersoil heating is very expensive to install and there are the running and maintenance costs. So although an attractive option, perhaps impractical. Additionally would they work if the pitch gets saturated?

Further drainage work? Given that the pitch is built on an infill quarry, the substrata may well be very different than the normal pitch. I also recall reading (happy to be proved wrong) that when the original Archibald Leitch Main Stand (South Parade) was built, extensive concrete foundations were sunk, to stop the structure, in effect sliding into the pitch, as this was the quarried area with Midland Railway infill.

Simple, superficial drainage and relaying turf, is only going to lead an annual ‘Groundhog day’!

Has the extensive drainage rework in 2018 failed? Pipework cracked, blocked, silted or something similar. Was there something like a 25 year guarantee. A maintenance plan? Can it be repaired?

The covers, how old are they? Are they obsolete? Do they offer any real protection from heavy rainfall?

Would a system like air roller covers be more effective? https://matchsaver.com/products/matchsaver-ars-air-roller-system/

Could City pioneer some form of poly tunnel, which would assist in turf growth and protect from rain and frost?

The option of moving to another venue seems totally impractical and so a resilient, practical, and cost effective solution needs to be found.

It's like an old knackered car

Do you keep throwing money at it or cut your losses and try get something newer

I'm talking about the stadium in general... But we can't afford a new car lol

If we had any sort of genuine ambition of moving up the leagues then it would be wise to invest in under soil heating.

Was thinking about this earlier. Maybe fans could sponsor small areas of the pitch to raise revenue towards its upkeep-say a m2. It seems every other part of the stadium is sponsored so why not the pitch? Unless it is already?
Our pitch is approx 6500 m2. Fans sponsor a square meter at £15 a chuck or you could pay more if you wanted. That would raise £97000 minimum towards the cost of renovating etc. This would be separate to ST prices.

That doesn’t help with rainfall on its own . Frost yes, snow, yes. Unless the substrate quality and depth arnt sorted first, to include drainage and soak away then anything else is useless and a waste of money. The only thing feasible is complete pitch coverage and drain away , a bit like the Wimbledon of old. The only ground I can think of that had anything remotely close would be Filbert St ( Leicester City) of old. It was a revelation in its day.

Can anyone explain why the police were involved with regards the pitch inspection, unless it was a police inspector.

An artificial pitch costs about 1.2 m for a national League standard. To resurface Headingley cost Carnegie just over a million, but non of the drainage issues of VP. I am sure someone quoted about 1.5 m a few years ago.

A lot of money, but makes no sense unless you own the ground.

52 years ago since Leicester had that massive tent surely in this day and age there is something like it that is a reasonable cost to the club.

I cant get your link to work Kev maybe its the same as I've posted ?.

Probably because one of the options they considered was delaying the kick off.

I believe @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler posted an in-depth message on here with regards the drainage problem being a massive cost if the club went down that route but as you say would it be viable to the club as they don't own the stadium.

Well it wasn't the greatest of days for the club, but I very much doubt we'd be playing now if we were considering delaying the kick off.

Delaying the kick off very much depends on by how long the delay is.

After a longish period of time, surely it becomes rearranged.

Unless you have evidence to the contrary, then the EFL does not allow artificial pitches. So it is a none starter.

Someone told me one of the clubs Directors was in charge of looking after the drainage problem with the so called experts. Think it may have been Roger Owen ?

Yes it was more tongue in cheek mate, I can't remember the last time I saw police presence in the stadium, maybe the League Cup game against Leeds ?.
